Kangas Week 8

What a week it has been for our Kangas! This week was filled with water, creativity, laughter, and plenty of opportunities for our campers to work together and make memories. From an action-packed water party to imaginative CIA activities, our Kangas made the most of every moment and continued to show us the kindness and community spirit that make camp so special.

Our Unit Time this week was a huge hit as we cooled off with an exciting Water Party! Campers rotated through four different stations: water balloon dodgeball, Drip Drip Drop, Over Under, and the Water Wiggler. There was plenty of running, splashing, laughter, and, of course, getting completely soaked! Each station gave campers a chance to have fun together while practicing teamwork, communication, and a little bit of friendly competition.

One moment that really stood out from our Water Party came from K4. After all the fun was over, there were still plenty of water balloons scattered across the field. Rather than simply leaving the mess behind, the campers took the initiative to help clean everything up. They worked together to collect the leftover balloons and make sure the field was left clean. It was a small moment, but a wonderful example of campers taking responsibility for their space and looking out for their camp community.

Our CIAs gave campers plenty of opportunities to get creative this week! Campers explored their imaginations while making their own Dragon Eyes, creating their very own monsters, and designing Goodbye Cards. Each activity gave campers a chance to put their own personal spin on their creations, whether they were dreaming up a wild new creature or making something special for someone they care about.

The Make Your Own Monster activity was especially perfect for letting our campers’ imaginations run wild. With so many different possibilities, every monster could be completely unique! From silly to spooky and everything in between, campers had the freedom to create characters that were entirely their own. Meanwhile, the Dragon Eyes activity gave campers another opportunity to transform simple materials into something imaginative and eye-catching.

Our Goodbye Cards also gave campers a chance to slow down and think about the people who have made their summer special. As the summer continues to move along, activities like these remind us just how many friendships and connections our campers have built throughout their time at camp.

During Schmooze this week, we celebrated some amazing campers across the Kangas! A huge congratulations goes to our Big Chair winner, Allan from K2! Big Chair is one of our favourite camp traditions because it gives us the chance to recognize campers for the kindness, enthusiasm, leadership, and positive energy they bring to their cabin. Congratulations, Allan!

A big congratulations also goes to our Silly Banana winners this week!

Staff Celebration Moment

This week’s staff spotlight goes to Lolly! Lolly brings so much positivity, enthusiasm, and encouragement to the Kangas every day. She is an excellent problem solver and truly embodies the attitude of “let’s try everything!” No matter what challenge comes her way, she approaches it with a positive mindset and is always willing to think outside the box, try a new approach, and find a way to make things work. Her energy is contagious, and she is constantly encouraging campers to step outside their comfort zones and give things a try.

Lolly has a wonderful ability to turn challenges into opportunities and makes sure the campers around her feel supported, capable, and excited to participate. Her positivity, creativity, and willingness to keep trying make her such a valuable part of our Kangas team. We are so grateful for the energy and encouragement she brings to camp every day!
