Time is flying by, as we have now reached the end of the third week of the August LIT program! This week focused on honing leadership skills. By far, the most challenging leadership opportunity the LITs have taken on this summer happened this week: they ran Thursday’s Schmooze.
Schmooze is a camp-wide activity where we celebrate camp birthdays, participate in a fun activity, and do the camp dance and cheer. The LITs planned an epic game of counsellors vs. LITs flag football (complete with a dance-party half time show). While the game ended in a tie, all of camp was buzzing with talk of how much fun the LITs made Schmooze that day. We are so proud of your incredible leadership LITs!
When they weren’t planning camp’s best Schmooze this week, the LITs could be found having some fun! They enjoyed a one, or two (or several) rounds of their favourite card games. They competed against their counsellor, Mojo, and the LIT Co-Ordinator, Clementine, at archery. They even had a blast trying to do “keep-ups” in Kangoo boots!
However they were spending their time, the LITs were spending it together! This week they came together to create a group costume for Friday’s dress-up day. The theme was “I’m going on a picnic.” So, naturally, the LITs made ant-costumes. With their counsellor and unit head being the Queen ants of their ant colony! Besides this being fun, silly, and filled with camp spirit ridiculousness, it was also a beautiful testament to the LITs friendship and the community that has grown within the group!
The Land of the LITs had two Big Chair winners this week! A Big Chair is awarded to campers who demonstrate awesome qualities that fall under the two pillars of AV which are building community and growth mindset. These two LITs in particular demonstrated the way they build community within the LIT group through inclusivity and kindness. They also demonstrated tons of leadership and initiative this week! One of the winners received a big hug and celebration from a camper they met during placement, which just goes to show the impact they have had as a leader. Way to go LITs!

Thank you for all the laughs and jokes this week LITs… time sure does fly when you’re having fun! We are all so proud of the hard work you gave in planning your Schmooze activity. You are all becoming such amazing leaders. We cannot wait to see what you accomplish in your final week at camp.

What time does drop off and pick up start and end?
Drop off is from 8:45 – 9:15AM. If you need an earlier drop-off, please register for Extended Care, which starts at 8AM.
Pick Up runs from 3:50 – 4:15PM. If you need a later pick-up, please register for Extended Care, which goes until 5:30PM.
Please note we have a black-out period from 3:15 – 3:50PM. If you would like to pick up your child early, the latest you can do so is 3:15PM. Please let us know ahead of time so we have them ready and waiting for you!
