Another incredible week in the Land of the LITs it has been. From learning about professionalism to epic water balloon fights the LITs made the absolute most of their last week at camp. Most notably, the LITs enjoyed a Thursday Fun-Day! Thursday started off on a literal high-note with recording. After that the LITs enjoyed Archery, and an awesome game of capture the flag. They took some chill time and made some Fimo, before they designed their own tie dye shirts! The highlight of the day was the bonding the LITs got to experience. They enjoyed some delicious treats and could be heard laughing from a mile away.
Also on Thursday, the LITs volunteered to participate in the Schmooze activity of the day. The Thursday Thingy was a surprise lip sync duet! Two of our very own LITs bravely performed an incredible dance for our entire AV community. Their performance wasn’t just good… it was award worthy! The LITs took home the win for best dancing, and that wasn’t a surprise considering they featured tumbling skills in their choreography. The LITs were rewarded with a super rare Rad Tag charm, a Dabbing Dino. A Dabbing Dino is only given to participants of a lip sync battle so they are hard to come by. Way to go LITs!
This week also asked the LITs to focus on professionalism. They learned about expectation setting. The LITs wrote down their expectations of different relationships such as friends, teachers, co-workers, etc. and then the group tried to match the anonymous expectation to the relationship. The workshop helped LITs discuss expectation setting and its importance. Overall, the LITs had thoughtful and insightful commentary on expectations and their importance. This week was capped off with a camp-wide MusicFest unlike anything AV has ever seen before. The LITs featured in the line up and showed professionalism beyond their years.
The Land of the LITs had two big chair winners this week! A Big Chair is awarded to campers who demonstrate awesome qualities that fall under the two pillars of AV which are building community and growth mindset. These two LITs demonstrated tons of growth over their four weeks in the LIT program. We are so proud of the leaders they have become – they are the kind that include everyone, lead with kindness, and try their best everyday. We are so proud of you!

Thank you for a wonderful four weeks. Mojo and I are so proud of the growth you have shown. We hope that each of you are also proud of themselves. We cannot wait to welcome you back next summer whether it be as an LIT or as a first year volunteer!

What happens next summer??
Campers starting Grade 8 this fall will do a second year of the LIT program. We purposefully structure it in a way that allows campers to build on their skills from the previous summer.
Campers starting Grade 9 this fall are eligible to apply as a volunteer! Applications will open in January.
