What a way to finish our time at camp! One of the highlights of the week was seeing T1 and T4 come together for a full day of fun. The two groups spent their last day side by side playing dodgeball, taking on cooperative games, and getting creative with cartooning. It was the kind of day where the lines between groups disappeared and everyone was simply part of one big camp community. We also saw a really special example of the friendships that make camp so meaningful. After one of our counsellors was hurt earlier in the week, a camper came up to her when she returned, gave her the biggest hug, and immediately asked how she was doing. Her response was simple: “That’s so nice.” It was a small moment, but one that captured just how much campers and counsellors come to care about one another at camp.
Our activity schedule was packed with opportunities to try something new. During CYOA, campers got creative with melting beads with Aqua, played European handball with Pylon, and learned boondoggling with Lucky. In art, campers took on a “Camera Roll” project, showcasing some of their favourite camp memories through their artwork. And, of course, there was plenty of slime! Each activity gave campers another chance to experiment, create, compete, and discover something new while spending time with different staff and friends.
Our unit also spent the week creating things that will help capture their summer. Campers tie-dyed their own shirts, with everyone coming up with their own designs. Seeing all of the different shirts together was a great reminder that while everyone is part of the same unit, each camper brings their own personality and creativity to the group. The campers also worked together to create a banner for Senior Camp. Every group contributed to the project, making it a special collaborative way to celebrate the summer and send something meaningful along to Senior Camp.
There were lots of reasons to celebrate during Schmooze this week! Amélie, Matthew, and Nicole were our Silly Banana winners, while Yuvan took home the Big Chair. Charlotte and Mavrick earned their Turtle Charms, and a very special congratulations goes to Nicole, who earned her 5-Year Tag! Five summers at camp is a huge milestone, and we are so excited to celebrate everything Nicole has experienced and contributed over the years.
Staff Celebration Moment: Fox
We also want to give a huge congratulations to Fox, who was named Staff of the Year! Fox has been an incredible leader this summer and has brought so much energy and positivity to camp. She consistently steps up, supports those around her, and helps make camp a better place simply by being herself. And she certainly knows how to bring the fun—today, Fox even took the stage and sang “Home” during our Camp-Wide Music Fest! It was the perfect way to celebrate someone who has made such a big impact on our camp community.
