Kangas Week 8

Aaaaaan thats a wrap on week 8 everybody!!

After the last 8 awesome weeks, the Kangas have so much to celebrate, this summer has been filled with laughter, adventure, and growth. Whether they were trying new activities and stepping out of their comfort zones or coming back for their Turtle Tag year, each camper has shown incredible courage, heart & AV spirit.

The connections they built and the memories made have shaped a summer none of us will forget and friendships that will last forever. Here’s to an unforgettable final week with our amazing Kangas!

Whenever I ask the Kangas what their favourite part of the day is they almost always say “Schmooze!”

Whether it is Minute-2-Win-It Monday, Tuesday Trivia, or Wednesday Warriors, the Kangas are always the loudest and the proudest, cheering on their peers and counsellors.

This was especially true during this Thursday’s Schmooze when Kangas 3 got the chance to show us what they’re made of in Lip-Sync form!

During a battle of Team Claw vs Team Apple, K3 joined their fearless leader Claw for an epic rendition of “Bye Bye Bye!” Although they didn’t quite come out on top, they showed just how amazing they are by taking pride in their runner up spot, giving congratulations to and shaking hands with the other team.

This week for our final Jivin Joeys, the Kangas competed in the Ultimate Bingo Challenge!

With a scorecard in hand and their passion on deck they raced against the clock and the other cabins to complete their Bingo card first! They ran, they laughed, they smiled, and most of all, they made some amazing memories being silly and working as a team.

In the end, it was Kanags 4 with over 1,000 points who took home the title of Ultimate Bingo Champs after completing all 25 challenges!

It was so heartwarming to see everyone working together with such big smiles on their faces, the perfect way to end out the summer!

This summer we have been extremely lucky to have some amazing campers, making choosing the Big Chair winners a difficult task, but the two winners this week were especially deserving.

I want to give a huge congratulations to Noah S & Elijah H, who have been deserving of a Big Chair since the summer started. Here all 8 weeks, these two have displayed endless kindness, initiative, and AV Spirit every single day.

Rain or shine, their smiles and willingness to put their friends first has never wavered. Thank you for a great summer, Noah & Elijah!

Staff Celebration: Shouting Out Forest!

The final staff shoutout of the summer goes to the one, the only…Forest!

Forest is an absolute rockstar of a counsellor, consistently going out of his way to provide his campers with the ultimate AV experience. Having Forest as your counsellor is like having your own personal hype-man, constantly coming up with new ways to keep the group engaged and have fun.

Forest’s empathy is boundless, his love for camp never ending, and the bonds he has built with his campers will certainly last forever. Thank you for all of your hard work, Forest!

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: When does registration open for summer 2026?

A: Registration for summer 2026 opens around October each year. Keep an eye out for updates. We can’t wait to welcome even more campers back for another summer of fun, friendships, and adventure.

To our Kangas Family;

It’s hard to believe that Summer 2025 has officially come to an end, but I can’t say goodbye without first saying thank you to our Kangas family for a truly wonderful summer!

As a staff team we are incredibly lucky to have had such a strong community full of terrific kids, who we are confident are going to grow up to do amazing things!

During Friday checkout our staff got to be apart of quite a few teary-eyed goodbyes & see-you-laters that completely melted our hearts. Each and every moment like these are an indication that the last 8 weeks have been nothing short of exceptional.

We recognize that your children are your whole world, and we feel so fortunate getting to spend our summers helping them create lifelong memories and friendships, providing them with the ultimate summer camp experience.

I hope that everyone has an amazing back-to-school season, and on behalf of the entire Kangas team we are SO excited to see your campers back here for Summer 2026, we miss them already!

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” A.A Milne

All the best,
