This week, the Tigers roared into a championship-worthy week at camp, embracing our theme of We Are the Champions! From high-energy team challenges that put our skills to the test, to designing our very own Tiger team jerseys, the spirit of victory was alive in everything we did. Our Quality of the Week was responsibility, and the Tigers proved it can be just as powerful as any victory cheer. They showed it by caring for their belongings, keeping our spaces tidy, and making thoughtful choices that supported their cabinmates. One of the week’s standout moments happened at lunch, when an entire cabin jumped into cleanup without a single prompt from their counsellors. They wiped down tables, put away every plate, and worked together with smiles, turning a simple chore into a true team effort.
The Tigers had an absolutely incredible week at camp, packed with energy, laughter, and a brand-new program that everyone couldn’t stop talking about: Choose Your Own Activity (CYOA)! This exciting addition to camp gave the Tigers something they’ve never had before: the power to decide exactly what activity they wanted to do. Three times a week, each Tiger stepped into the driver’s seat and got to choose their own adventure. For some, that meant returning to favorite activities again and again, while others used the opportunity to push themselves, try new things, and discover hidden talents they didn’t even know they had. What made CYOA so special wasn’t just the activities themselves, but the independence it inspired. Every choice was a chance for the Tigers to show responsibility and leadership, taking ownership of their camp experience and carving out a week that was uniquely theirs. You could see the pride on their faces as they confidently made their picks and dove into activities with enthusiasm. And the activities? They were nothing short of amazing! CYOA opened the door to special opportunities that aren’t part of the regular schedule. Campers got to learn the art of friendship bracelet making with Mojo. Others tapped into their messy, silly side by creating fun, colorful slime with Lemon. The buzz around CYOA was electric all week long, with many Tigers saying it was the highlight of their week.
This week’s Sizzle Shenanigans, our weekly unit time, was a special and colorful edition: Tie-Dye Bandanas! The Tigers came together, each with a plain white bandana in hand, ready to transform it into something bold, bright, and uniquely their own. With bottles of dye in every color of the rainbow, campers folded, twisted, and tied their bandanas in creative patterns, experimenting with swirls, stripes, and color layering. Some chose classic camp colors, others mixed wild combinations, and a few went all out with rainbow explosions that looked incredible. The Tigers showed teamwork and patience as they shared the tie-dye bottles, helping each other create their colourful designs.
With the Tigers’ cabins mixing this week for Choose Your Own Activity (CYOA), the camp community was truly roaring! Campers of all ages had the chance to pick activities side by side, and one period in particular brought out the best of teamwork and creativity. During slime-making with Lemon, older Tigers noticed that some of the younger campers weren’t quite sure how to follow the steps, so they eagerly jumped in to guide them: sharing tips, measuring ingredients, and cheering every successful swirl of color. At the same time, the younger Tigers brought their own energy and fresh ideas, inspiring the older campers to experiment with bold new color combinations. By the end, every camper had a batch of vibrant, gooey slime and an even stronger sense of community. It was a perfect reminder that, no matter your age, helping each other and sharing experiences makes camp extra special.
This week was full of celebrations as the Tigers truly shone in both creativity and character! Our Silly Bananas, awarded for the most imaginative and creative costumes, were a huge hit. Matthew earned a Silly Banana for his incredible handmade replica of the 1993 Commissioner’s Trophy, famously awarded to the Blue Jays. Jayden wowed everyone as a Lionel Messi soccer card, complete with a jersey and even a box! The Big Chairs, reserved for campers who consistently demonstrate outstanding qualities, were awarded to two Tigers this week. Cayden earned a Big Chair for his responsibility, positivity, and unwavering camp spirit. Isabella received one for her kindness, empathy, and the thoughtful way she supports and includes others.
