Tigers Week 6

This week, the Tigers leapt into a wild and wonderful week of camp, diving deep into the theme of flora and fauna! From sketching and inventing their own magical forests and creatures, to designing and painting colourful flower pots, the Tigers had a blast nurturing their creativity and growing their love for the natural world. Our Quality of the Week was positivity, and the Tigers showed just how powerful it can be to lift each other up. Whether it was offering kind words during group time, celebrating small victories, or encouraging a friend to try something new, their positive energy spread like sunshine through the forest. One of the week’s brightest moments happened during a tricky word scramble challenge. Two groups finished their lists first, but instead of sitting back, they turned their focus to the last team still working. They cheered, clapped, and celebrated every correct word their friends discovered. When the final word was solved, the den erupted in joyful applause. In that moment, it didn’t matter who finished first, everyone left feeling proud, supported, and connected. It was the perfect reminder that positivity can turn competition into true community.

This week, the Tigers enjoyed a fantastic mix of creative and active activities! In Arts and Crafts, campers designed vibrant chalk sand jar art, carefully layering colors and patterns to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. During Fimo Fun, they shaped imaginative creatures from clay, letting their creativity truly shine. Boondoggle was a big hit as well, with Tigers crafting stylish keychains and bracelets while encouraging one another. Gaga Ball brought lots of excitement with fast-paced, energetic play, where campers showed great sportsmanship and team spirit. Archery also drew plenty of interest, as many Tigers practiced focus and precision, celebrating each successful shot with pride. It was a lively and rewarding week full of creativity, teamwork, and positive energy, the perfect combination for growing confidence and making memories!

This week’s edition of Sizzle’s Shenanigans, our weekly unit time, was all about exploring the wonders of flora and fauna. The Tigers kicked things off with an exciting scavenger hunt, collecting clues and puzzle pieces scattered around camp. Each team needed to gather all 12 pieces to complete their puzzle, which revealed a mystery animal. T1 discovered a butterfly, T3 uncovered a bear, and T4 revealed a beaver. Solving the puzzle unlocked their next challenge: a marker and a list of 10 scrambled words to decode. The race was on to unscramble the words correctly and claim victory! For the second half of Sizzle’s Shenanigans, the focus shifted from competition to creativity. Each group worked together to create a big cabin mural that showed off their team’s personality and the campers who make it special. Everyone had a role: some sketched, some painted big, colorful sections, and others worked on the small details that really brought the murals to life. The designs included inside jokes, favorite camp memories, and little touches that represented each person in the group.

This week was full of celebrations as the Tigers really shone in both creativity and character! Our Silly Bananas, awarded for the most imaginative and creative costumes, were a big hit. Viaan earned a Silly Banana for his fantastic cactus costume, which caught everyone’s attention with its clever design and fun spirit. Amélie stood out as well, taking home not just one but two awards. She received a Silly Banana for her glowing treehouse costume, which lit up the room and sparked smiles all around. The Big Chairs, reserved for campers who consistently demonstrate outstanding qualities, were awarded to three wonderful Tigers this week. Amélie also earned a Big Chair for exemplifying responsibility, respect, and inclusivity, always setting a positive example for her peers. Matthew received a Big Chair for his incredible growth, perseverance, and positivity, showing how determination and a good attitude can make a difference. Charlie was recognized with a Big Chair as well, for her kindness, helpfulness, and responsibility, qualities that make her a valued member of the group. We’re so proud of all our Tigers for their unique talents and the positive spirit they bring to camp each day. Keep up the great work!

Each week, we love to shine the spotlight on one of our incredible staff members who goes above and beyond—and this week, it’s Hippo! He is always bringing a lighthearted, goofy energy that keeps everyone smiling. Whether he’s telling a silly joke, pulling a playful prank, or just being his naturally funny self, Hippo has a special talent for making both campers and co-counsellors burst into laughter. Beyond his humor, Hippo takes the time to truly connect with each child. He makes a point of getting to know their interests, strengths, and personalities, creating an environment where every camper feels seen, valued, and welcomed. His genuine warmth and inclusive spirit help build a sense of belonging that encourages kids to be themselves and try new things with confidence. Hippo’s combination of humor and heart makes him an unforgettable presence at camp.

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: What is a Silly Banana?

A: A Silly Banana is one of our special Radtagz charms that campers can earn – never buy! Every Friday at camp is Costume Day, with a different theme each week. Campers who show up in especially fun, creative, and unique costumes have the chance to be awarded a Silly Banana tag for their bracelet. It’s a way to celebrate imagination, effort, and a little bit of camp silliness!
