LITs Week One

This week the LITs focused on community, confidence, and communication.

Their week was filled with games, but our trips to the LIT theatre were by far the most fun.

The LIT theatre was filled with amazing performances by all of our budding actors. We were often playing improv games that required the LITs to think on their feet, and my oh my they are very fast thinkers!

The LITs were also able to learn about communication by creating their own skits in the theatre to demonstrate different aspects of communication, such as active listening.

When they weren’t at the LIT theatre they were hard at work building their community. Aside from many epic games of Gaga ball, this week the LITs hosted their own show and tell. Each LIT got a moment in the spotlight to show something special to them and tell the group why. We learned so much about each other and walked away even better friends than before.

We had a few award winners in the land of the LITs.

First up, one of our amazing LITs won a Big Chair award. A Big Chair is awarded to campers who demonstrate amazing qualities such as leadership, teamwork, and positivity.

Secondly, we had two Silly Banana winners! A Silly Banana is given to campers who come to camp on Friday in an awesome costume. This week’s theme was “When I Grow Up” and our two Silly Bananas dressed up as an artist and the artist’s canvas!

We also celebrated two LITs who earned their turtle Radtag. A turtle is awarded to campers on their third summer at AV.

Way to go LITs!

A Note from Clementine (LIT Co-Ordinator)

This week was LITeriffic!

Each and every LIT has already demonstrated so much growth in their leadership skills. We cannot wait for you all to take on a new challenge next week as you begin your first week of placement.

Have a great weekend!
