Tigers' Week One

The Tigers had an incredible week at camp! With the theme of When I Grow Up, the focus was all about dreaming big, trying new things, and discovering the endless possibilities the world has to offer.  We explored the world of careers, built our dream houses, and even dressed up as our future dream jobs. Throughout the week, we focused on our quality of the week: cooperation. Campers were challenged to work together in everything they did, from large group games to simply helping a friend find their water bottle. One standout moment came when a camper noticed another camper sitting alone and immediately asked them to join their group. This small gesture made a huge impact with the campers ending the day smiling and laughing together. Whether in our Tigers Den or on the soccer field, the Tigers lived out what cooperation truly means.

From dance to nature, from recording to basketball, the Tigers got to try and do so many things at camp this week! One of the Tigers’ top activities was archery. Archery was a massive hit, with campers learning how to aim, focus, and safely handle bows. Another favourtie activity was Kangoo Kids, jumping around in our special Kangoo boots had everyone laughing and having fun. The Tigers’ got to explore the creek in nature, with campers finding crawfish and minnows!

This week’s Sizzle Shenanigans, our weekly unit wide activity, was all about diving into different careers! The Tigers were split into teams based on their cabin and took part in a career-themed relay race. The first challenge was firefighting with the campers working together to fill a large bucket of water using smaller containers, teamwork and strategy were key. The Tigers then got a taste of police work, using their brains and clues, they put their detective hats on to crack some tricky riddles. After solving crime, they got to be engineers, armed with lego racing to construct the tallest tower in record time. The race finished with the chef challenge, campers carefully carried trays filled with wacky items (dinosaurs, drumsticks, and more!) to their customers (counsellors) showing off their balance and poise. While Tigers 1 and Tigers 4, started off in a friendly competition, by the end it turned into an epic collaboration. With both groups working together to absolutely soak their counsellors at the grand finale, I think some of the counsellors are still drying off!

Community is strong within the Tigers, with them building friendships and memories that will last much longer than camp! These bonds are truly special, with campers cheering each other on, and making sure no one is left out. One example of this is during Sizzle’s Shenanigans, when  both cabins had to share a single hose. Even though they were on opposite teams, a camper from Tigers 4 made sure the hose was passed back and forth fairly so that everyone got a turn. It was a small act, but spoke volumes about the Tigers community. These small moments: high-five after a game, laughing during snack, doing the camp dance together are what make our Tigers group feel like a family!

Congratulations are in order for our Tigers! Amélie won a silly banana this week, our award we give out to the campers with the most creative costumes. With Amélie showing up not just as a judge but the whole desk, she has a new silly banana charm to add to her collection. Aiden was our big chair winner this week, awarded for his helpfulness, collaboration, and leadership! Our big chairs are given to exemplary campers each week and Aiden is the perfect example. Congratulations to Amélie and Aiden!

Staff Celebration Moment

Each week, we love to shine a light on one of our incredible staff members who goes above and beyond and this week our Tiger star is Lemon! Lemon is always seen with a huge smile, ready to jump into any activity, game, or project.
