This week in LIT land our group focused on developing counselling and cooperation skills. The LITs engaged in a number of skits, which they came up with and performed themselves. These skits helped the LITs practice their counselling skills in a lower-stake environment.
When the LITs weren’t at work in the LIT theatre they were honing their cooperation skills in a few epic rounds of BOLF. BOLF is a mix of baseball and golf, which required the LITs to work as a team to successfully pitch various objects into the hole. Together they were able to reach their goal and win BOLF!
We had not one but two Big Chair winners from LIT land this week!
A “Big Chair” is an award that is given to awesome campers who demonstrate positive qualities that we value at camp. These qualities include positivity, teamwork, resilience, etc. For the LITs, their demonstration of leadership is often recognized in their Big Chair nomination.
Congratulations LITs!
Community is alive and thriving in LIT land…
The LITs prepared a performance for this week’s music fest. Not only did they prepare a performance of a beloved camp song, but together they created new lyrics to “I Have a Mango.” On Friday, they performed I Have a Mango (LIT version) for all the Bunnies and Froggies.
Aside from their performance, the LITs also engaged in an extreme game of cooperation capture the bean bag. This required the LITs to work together to capture 4 bean bags, two of which were hidden with members of the leadership team. The final bean bag was with our camp director Ariel, and to get that bean bag the LITs had to sing “Part of Your World.” Needless to say, they absolutely smashed the challenge, and had the best time doing it!
A Note from Clementine (LIT Co-Ordinator)
This week the LITs reached new heights, and not only when they had their Kangoo Kids boots on! They completed their first week of placement, and camp was buzzing with compliments for the LITs leadership and initiative. We are so proud of all of you.
Looking forward to more fun next week!
Caregiver Question of the Week
Question: “What do I do if I am dropping my camper off late to camp?”
Answer: If you know ahead of time, you can email your unit head or camp@adventurevalley.ca. Otherwise, you can call camp at (905)-901-4862 and we will send one of our staff to collect your camper from the East parking lot.
Our mission is to grow the whole child through the traditional spirit and fun of camp. While your child is with us at Adventure Valley, our leadership team is devoted to developing their social dexterity and emotional intelligence, while amplifying their self confidence.
