Froggies Week 3

This week, the Froggies struck just the right chord as they tuned up for an unforgettable AVDC Music Awards Week! From the very first note, our campers showed they were ready to march to the beat of teamwork, creativity, and fun. Whether they were crafting beautiful, colourful art like true maestros, moving in perfect harmony during group games, or working together to compose big ideas during special activities, the Froggies proved they know how to keep the rhythm of camp alive.

In Arts & Crafts, the campers let their creativity take flight — quite literally — as they designed and decorated their own paper bag kites. Each kite became a colourful, one-of-a-kind masterpiece, ready to soar through the air like a graceful melody drifting in the wind. As they worked, the Froggies learned that, just like music, no two creations are alike, and every little detail adds to the harmony.

Over in Co-Op Games, teamwork and communication took center stage during the Back-to-Back Drawing challenge. Campers worked in pairs to create a shared “composition,” with one giving directions and the other putting pencil to paper — a true duet of trust and focus. They learned to listen closely to each other, just like musicians in an orchestra, making sure their rhythms matched and their “notes” landed in just the right place. The results were as fun as they were creative, with plenty of laughter filling the room like a joyful chorus.

In Crazy Science, the Froggies became inventors and musicians all at once, building their own stringed instruments from everyday materials. They explored the science of sound — how vibrations make music — and got to experiment with pitch, tone, and rhythm as they plucked and strummed their creations. The air buzzed with excitement (and a few very creative “concerts”), as the Froggies discovered how to literally make their own music from scratch.

By the end of the week, the Froggies had composed a whole symphony of memories — full of colour, teamwork, laughter, and, of course, a lot of heart. Together they proved that no matter what instrument you play, camp is always better when we all play in harmony.

On Wednesday during Ribbit Recess with Lizard, the Froggies let their creativity shine as they dove into a collection of music-themed colouring and activity sheets. The room was filled with quiet concentration and bright imagination as campers brought instruments, notes, and musical scenes to life with vibrant colours. Some Froggies carefully coloured in guitars, pianos, and drums, while others worked on fun puzzles and activities that tested their musical knowledge and rhythm. It was the perfect chance for everyone to relax, express themselves, and add their own unique “flair” to the page — proving that you don’t need an actual instrument to make something beautiful and creative in the spirit of music! By the end of the activity, the Froggies had created a whole gallery of colourful, harmonious masterpieces that were truly a sight (and sound) to behold.

Staff Celebration Moment

We’re so excited to shine the spotlight on one of our amazing Froggies counsellors this week — the incredible Maple!

Parent Question of the Week

Q: What happens on bad weather days (extreme heat/raining)?

A: On hot days, we put out sprinkles, frequent water and shade breaks. On rainy days, we’ll continue programming outdoors if it’s only a light drizzle. But if the rain picks up, we shift to our rainy day locations and run indoor versions of our usual activities, ensuring the day stays active and fun – even without the sunshine!
