Theme: Under the Sea
The Tigers dove into an unforgettable week beneath the waves, where teamwork, fun, and ocean-themed adventures brought everyone closer together! From creating beach bags, to their own aquariums, and even playing a game of human battle ship with water balloons, the tigers had a blast this week. Our quality of the week was empathy, and the Tigers showed just how deep their kindness and compassion go. Our campers exemplified what it means to genuinely care for one another by consistently uplifting, encouraging, and supporting each other.
One memorable moment took place during a game of soccer. After one team lost, a camper became visibly upset by the outcome. Sensing their disappointment, a camper from the opposing team quietly sat beside them and offered heartfelt words of encouragement. They told them how well they had played and, most importantly, acknowledged their frustration, saying they understood why the loss felt disappointing. It was a small act, but a powerful display of empathy and compassion
The Tigers had an action-packed and exciting week filled with creativity, adventure, and high energy! One of the highlights was building mini sea creatures out of Fimo clay, where campers used their imaginations to sculpt everything from starfish and jellyfish to mythical sea monsters. In archery, many Tigers discovered hidden talents as they aimed for the target, some even landing impressive bullseyes! Over in arts and crafts, the campers channeled their inner artists by creating stunning nighttime desert scenes. Kangoo Kids remained a fan-favorite among the group. The Tigers absolutely loved bouncing around in their Kangoo boots, jumping as high and fast as they could while laughing and racing their friends. Gaga Ball was another major hit. Whether they were seasoned pros or just learning the ropes, all the Tigers got in on the action, showing off quick reflexes and great sportsmanship.
This week in Sizzle’s Shenanigans, our unit time took us on an exciting journey under the sea! Our Tigers dove right into the action with a fantastic relay race that had them making waves from start to finish. First, they raced to fill a bucket using leaky cups—testing their speed and strategy as water dribbled out like a sneaky sea creature. Next, they crab-walked sideways with claws up and giggles flowing, followed by transforming into graceful dolphins to swim under the waves (aka streamers) without getting tangled in the seaweed. Then it was time to walk the plank—balancing across a pool noodle like true pirates of the play-seas. Finally, our turtle-y awesome campers suited up with pylon “shells” on their backs, carefully waddling to the finish without letting their shell fall or using their hands.
After our relay race, the Tigers made a splash with their next activity, designing their very own cabin surfboards! Each group worked together like a well-oiled crew, bringing their creativity to life as they brainstormed, sketched, and decorated totally gnarly surfboards that reflected their unique cabin spirit.
The Tigers’ community is truly roaring! From the very first day of camp, a strong sense of connection and kindness has grown between cabins. A perfect example happened during first period on Monday: while the cabins were getting to know one another, T4 began playing a lively game of Cross Canada. Instead of keeping it to themselves, they invited campers from T1 and T3 to join in. What started as a simple game quickly turned into a giant, whole unit experience, full of laughter, energy, and teamwork. It was a perfect reminder of how inclusive and welcoming the Tigers community really is.
Staff Shoutout: Wheels!
Each week, we love to shine the spotlight on one of our incredible staff members who goes above and beyond—and this week, it’s Wheels! He shows up every day with a huge smile, contagious energy, and an enthusiasm that uplifts everyone around him. Whether he’s leading a game, joining in a silly song, or lending a helping hand behind the scenes, Wheels is always fully present and giving it his all. Campers gravitate toward him because of his positive attitude, and fellow staff look to him as a reliable, supportive teammate. This week was especially meaningful, as we got to celebrate Wheels’ birthday! One of the Tigers cabins decided to surprise him by decorating the entire den with streamers, signs, and birthday messages. It was a heartwarming moment that perfectly captured the kind of impact Wheels has made at camp.
