I’m not sure how the summer has gone by so fast, but with the blink of an eye we’re wrapping up Week 4 at AV!
This week our campers and staff dove into another hot week, and made a splash with lots of Under the Sea themed activities.
Our campers rode the wave of adventure with each activity and new experience as they embraced the heat and life under the sea.
As Sebastian the Crab likes to say, our campers were devoting full time to floating and having the time of their lives doing it!
Campers and staff dove deep with their creativity this week to make some waves with their costumes! AV was submerged with jellyfish, octopus, sharks and fish scuba divers galore.
Our staff did a great job bringing the theme to life with sea-creature arts & crafts and awesome games based on life under the sea. With added fun with lots of sprinkler time, this weeks theme was an aquatic hit!
Shoutout to K5’s Silly Banana winner Sofia, whose coral reef costume was perfect for any aquarium. Great job Sofia!
The Kangas community was full of endless fun, friendships, and fantastic memories this week.
There was one moment in particular that I would like to highlight this week, that I think really demonstrates the strong sense of community within our Kangas.
There were lots of hugs and goodbyes yesterday as we wrapped up week 4, and one Kanga decided to make the most of the final moments with some of her friends with a conga line!
She recruited campers and staff for a wall-to-wall conga-dance party which brought a huge smile to everyone’s faces.
It was exactly what everyone needed to end an awesome week, and brought everyone together.
One of the Kangas’ absolute favorite activities this week was without a doubt Drumming!
The energy was sky-high as the campers picked up their drumsticks and got into the groove. From the very first beat they were drumming with huge smiles on their faces.
The room was loud, but even over the rhythm of the drums you could still hear the joy and laughter of the Kangas.
It was awesome to see them let loose and express themselves through their drum sticks, having the time of their lives! Whether they were keeping the beat or creating their own wild rhythms, everyone had a blast.
Drumming has definitely earned its spot as a top highlight of the week for the Kangas!
Staff Shoutout: Celebrating Saturn!
We are very lucky to have some amazing staff here in Kangaland, and day-after-day the Kangas have shown their love and appreciation for our awesome counsellor Saturn.
She is not only a great counsellor, but Saturn is the captain of fun and a great role model for all of her campers. She brings the energy, empathy, and enormous amounts of patience to Kangaland.
Her campers know that whether they need a hype-man during a challenging activity, or a listening ear during a tough moment, Saturn is that person.
The trust the Kangas have in Saturn is a perfect demonstration of the amazing connections she has made with her campers.
Thank you for all the encouraging words and big laughs, Saturn. We are so happy to have you apart of the Kanga Community.
Caregiver Question of the Week
Q: What do I do if I need to pick up my camper early?
A: If you know what time you would like to pick up your camper, please email me at kangas@adventurevalley.ca or the camp office at camp@adventurevalley.ca and let us know what time you would like to pick them up. We will then have them ready and waiting for you with a counsellor in the West parking lot (marked with the orange Adventure Valley flags).
If you are early or arranging for a last minute pickup, please call the camp office (905-901-4862) and a staff member will bring your camper out to you!
Please note that we have an early pickup blackout period from 3:15-3:50.
Our mission is to grow the whole child through the traditional spirit and fun of camp. While your child is with us at Adventure Valley, our leadership team is devoted to developing their social dexterity and emotional intelligence, while amplifying their self confidence.
