This week at camp may have been a short one with just four days, but wow, did we make every single moment count! The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and our campers were buzzing with energy (just like the bees we learned about). With our Flora & Fauna theme, the bunnies dove nose-first into nature — running, hopping, painting, laughing, and learning at full speed. Everywhere you turned, there were giggles, grass stains, and a hint of finger paint on someone’s hands. From the first morning welcome to our Friday wrap-up, the week bloomed into a wild garden of joy, learning, and connection.
The bunnies had an absolutely jam-packed schedule — the kind of week where bedtime comes fast because you’ve played, created, and explored so much! We bounced between recording sessions, peaceful yoga stretches, exciting parachute games, and messy-but-marvelous arts & crafts. This week’s art project had campers finger painting the four seasons — spring blooms, summer sunshine, autumn leaves, and winter snow — with their own colorful twist. The joy on their faces as they swirled paint together was priceless. Our nature activities continued with learning how animals move in the wild — from the slinky stalk of a cat to the hopping bounce of a kangaroo — before ending with some speedy animal track relay races that had everyone laughing and cheering. Then there was Crazy Science, where we made Oobleck — a gooey, slimy, and utterly fascinating substance that’s part liquid, part solid. Campers couldn’t stop poking it, squeezing it, and giggling as it “magically” changed in their hands.
Hop Hop Hooray this week was buzzing with excitement — literally! We learned all about pollinators, starting with a beautifully illustrated picture book that taught us how important these little workers are for our flowers, fruits, and veggies. We talked about bees, butterflies, birds, and even bats — and how their “job” is to help plants grow and thrive. After the story, each camper received a special card with an insect or animal on it. Their mission? To find their plant partner — the flower or plant that their pollinator helps. Soon the space was alive with campers buzzing around, fluttering, and hopping as they searched for their perfect match.
Schmooze this week packed in so much fun. Tuesday Trivia kicked things off with a friendly battle of wits — one bunny cabin came very close to taking the win, but in the end, it was a Kangas cabin that claimed trivia glory. Wednesday Warrior was nail bitting to see who would make it into the semi-finals. Our first challenge had counselors in two teams lying on the ground, feet in the air, balancing a bucket of water. The goal was to keep the bucket steady while removing their socks — a task that proved trickier than expected (and splashier). Wheels (filling in for Claw), Root, Pacific, and Moss came out victorious and secured their position in next weeks competition. Minnow, Rodeo, Comet, and Cricket had one more chance in the second round. This challenge was streamer-rolling — except the streamer had a shoe on top for extra weight. Strategy, patience, and speed all came into play. In the end, Minnow rolled to victory and secured a spot in the semi-finals. Thursday Thingy had campers cheering so loudly you could probably hear them from the parking lot, as Team Yellow (counsellors) took on Team Blue (leadership) in an epic dodgeball game. Yellow came away with the win, but everyone left the court grinning. Friday wrapped up with two Silly Banana winners and two Big Chair winners — celebrating bunnies who brought amazing costumes, incredible attitudes, and nonstop positivity all week.
The sense of togetherness in the Bunny unit grows stronger every single week. Campers are quick to lend a helping hand, share a smile, or cheer for one another during activities. On the very first day, one bunny was feeling nervous — new surroundings, new faces, and so much going on. Without hesitation, another camper went over, gave them a big reassuring hug, sat down right beside them, and held their hand the entire period. Later in the week, during parachute time, a camper noticed a friend struggling to hold the edge. They quietly switched spots and helped them get a good grip so they could join in without feeling left out. These small acts of kindness are what make our bunny community so special — they show us that even the littlest campers can make the biggest different.
Staff Celebration Moment
Our Staff Celebration spotlight this week goes to the one and only Shrek! If camp had a “most loved” award, Shrek’s name would be all over it. She’s the camper magnet — the one kids flock to for coloring sheets, her famous Sleeping Beauty game, and her magical ability to make every single camper feel seen and special. She’s the calm in the storm, the smile in the morning, and the laughter at the end of the day. Shrek has a gift for turning any moment into a fun one, whether it’s inventing a new game on the spot or bringing positivity to the trickiest challenges. She’s a friend, a leader, and a role model — and camp just wouldn’t be the same without her sparkle.
Caregiver Question of the Week
Q: What is a Silly Banana?
A: A Silly Banana is one of our special Radtagz charms that campers can earn—never buy! Every Friday at camp is Costume Day, with a different theme each week. Campers who show up in especially fun, creative, and unique costumes have the chance to be awarded a Silly Banana tag for their bracelet. It’s a way to celebrate imagination, effort, and a little bit of camp silliness!
Though the week was short, it was overflowing with joy, learning, and connection — a reminder that it’s not about the number of days we have, but what we do with them. As we wave goodbye to this week, we’re sending big hugs to the campers who are heading off for new adventures and the warmest welcome to those joining us for the next chapter. Week 7 is on the horizon, and we can’t wait to see what magic it brings. Until then — keep blooming, keep buzzing, and keep bringing the camp spirit wherever you go!
Warm Regards,
Frizzle
