LITs Week 7

This week the LITs were all about building confidence and practicing their leadership. That meant that this week was full of new challenges and opportunities for the LITs.

To build confidence the LITs played a round of “Compliment Guess Who?”, where they used positive attributes they recognized in their peers to describe one another. The LITs had to guess who it was based on the description. It is safe to say the LITs left that game feeling confident and sure of their strengths!

The LITs were also given many leadership opportunities, including getting to run their own games for each other. Most notably, at MusicFest, one courageous LIT took centre stage and led a repeat after me song for all of the Bunnies and Froggies!

Aside from workshops, games, and songs, the LITs were hard at work planning their very own schmooze activity this week. Schmooze is a camp-wide event that happens daily. You can think of it as an all-camp pep rally / the most epic dance party ever!

For the “Thursday Thingy” the LITs planned a mini-challenge series between a team of LITs and a team of staff members. This fun-filled challenge included balloon keep-up, a riddle race, and an over-under water race. In the end, the LITs prevailed and got to toss a cup of water in faces of  the staff team!

All of camp was buzzing with talk of this week’s Thursday Thingy. The LITs did such a fantastic job planning and executing this camp-wide activity.

You might say that this week was a busy one in the land of the LITs, but we would say it was an action-packed, challenge-filled, incredible week! When they weren’t building up their confidence or planning their schmooze activity the LITs were at their second placements of the summer!

All of our LITs have already demonstrated so much growth in their capabilities on placement. The campers in their placement groups became the LITs biggest fans this week. That goes to show what a fantastic job they are all doing on placement!

We also had two Big Chair winners this week. A Big Chair is awarded to campers who demonstrate super qualities throughout their time at camp. For the LITs, an important quality is their leadership! Congratulations to our two Big Chair winners.

A Note from Clementine (LIT Co-ordinator)

Whether it was doing the camp dance, planning their own schmooze, or being on placement the LITs proved that they are stronger than the challenges they have faced. This was an outstanding week! I cannot wait to see what you all accomplish in your final week at AV this year.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: Can I pick up my camper early, at 3:30?

A: No – we have a blackout period between 3:15 and 3:55pm. If you would like to pick up your camper early, please arrive before 3:15pm. When you arrive in the West parking lot, please give camp a call and we will bring your camper to you!
