And the Award Goes To… the Bunnies!
This week, the Bunnies were absolute superstars as we dove into our AVDC Music Awards theme! From rocking out during activities to taking on musical challenges and showing kindness throughout camp, our campers hit every high note. Whether they were jamming, dancing, creating, or caring, our little performers truly earned a spot in the Camp Hall of Fame. We were blown away by their energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork. They may be the smallest unit, but their talent is larger than life!
Building, Bouncing & Beats
The Bunnies spent their week exploring the magical world of music and movement. In drumming, they learned how rhythm brings people together—some even led their own beats! During gymnastics, campers tumbled and flipped with focus and flair, building strength and coordination. Our voices took center stage during recording, where everyone got the chance to sing along and share their sound.
In Crazy Science, our campers turned into little inventors, crafting instruments out of everyday materials like cardboard, string, straws, and elastics. Some made mini guitars, others created shakers or wind instruments—it was music to our ears! We also stretched and centered ourselves in yoga, and explored structure and storytelling through LEGO building. Each period gave our campers a chance to shine in a new way, and the Bunnies took the spotlight every time!
Hop Hop Hooray with Frizzle
Our unit time was an encore-worthy journey around the world! For “Music Around the World,” each camper received their very own Frizzle Adventure Passport. They became world travelers on a mission to find ten hidden musical instruments across camp, with each one representing a different country.
They visited China to find the gong, explored the sounds of the didgeridoo in Australia, and grooved with the tambourine in Brazil. It was a melodic mix of geography and creativity, and the Bunnies were incredible explorers every step of the way!
Schmooze, Spotlight & Superstars
Our daily Schmooze challenges brought laughter, surprises, and a little friendly competition!
On Monday, camper-counselor pairs battled it out to see who could cover their counselor in the most sticky notes in under a minute—Tiger cabin stuck with it and took the win! Tuesday’s trivia was all about music, and the Kangas came out on top with their deep knowledge of songs, instruments, and fun facts. Wednesday Warrior was intense as our staff faced off in the semi-finals—we’re now down to two finalists: Hippo and Pickles, who will go head-to-head next week in the Wednesday Warrior finale! On Thursday, our amazing Leaders in Training (LITs) ran the show with a Leadership vs. LITs three-legged race. The LITs outran us and earned the right to splash a leadership team member with a cold cup of water—much to everyone’s delight! And on Wednesday, a Bunny birthday meant one very lucky counselor got a classic cup in the face to celebrate. We closed out the week by recognizing some incredible Bunnies. Two campers earned Big Chairs for their positivity, kindness, and uplifting spirit throughout the week, and one Bunny won a Silly Banana for their music-themed outfit that really hit the right note. Our Bunnies rocked the week with confidence and compassion—true camp icons in the making!
Music Fest Finale
We ended the week in perfect harmony with Music Fest—an epic sing-along celebration with Ariel, the Froggies, and our whole Bunny crew. Campers sang their hearts out to classic songs like “Fred the Moose”, “Jellyfish”, “I Have a Mango”, and of course, the crowd-favorite: “Hey Hey Bo Diddley Bop!” Music Fest is always a highlight—it’s a time when we all come together, dance, sing, and feel the joy of being at camp. The Bunnies were front and center, leading the charge with their big voices and even bigger smiles!
Small Acts, Big Heart
Our Bunny community continues to blow us away with their kindness and care for one another. When one camper was disappointed there were no pink markers left, another offered, “You can use mine—I’ll pick a different color!” Later in the week, when a Bunny fell and hurt herself, her cabinmates surrounded her with hugs and reassurance to help her feel better. These moments remind us that while camp is full of fun and excitement, it’s our friendships and compassion that truly make it special.
Staff Spotlight: Patch!
This week, we’re shining the spotlight on someone truly special—Patch!
Patch brings so much energy, care, and creativity to the Bunnies every single day. Whether it’s planning super fun CIA activities, finding the perfect coloring sheets for Cabin Huddles, or just being a calm, caring presence in the room, Patch makes every camper feel seen and supported.
It’s no wonder the Bunnies adore them. Patch makes camp more colorful, more joyful, and more magical just by being themselves. We’re so lucky to have them on our team!
Caregiver Question of the Week
Q: What happens on bad weather days (extreme heat/raining)?
A: On hot days, we put out sprinklers and have frequent water and shade breaks. On rainy days, we’ll continue programming outdoors if it’s only a light drizzle. But if the rain picks up, we shift to our rainy day locations and run indoor versions of our usual activities, ensuring the day stays active and fun—even without the sunshine!
As the curtain closes on Week 3, we’re so proud of the Bunnies and the friendships, growth, and joy that filled every day. We can’t wait to leap into another week of adventure, creativity, and connection. See you on Monday for more magic!
