Froggies Week 6

What an exciting week we’ve had in the Froggies unit! Your campers have been busy making memories, learning new tricks, and competing in the Froggies 2024 Olympics.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces this week in Froggies, but also such a treat to be introduced to new friends.

There was no doubt that new campers felt welcomed in the Froggies unit, thanks to the how inclusive and friendly all the campers were.

On the first day, there was a Froggy camper who was nervous to be at camp without knowing anyone. A lot of the campers in their cabin had already been at camp for a couple of weeks. When the new camper was feeling shy on that first morning he hesitated joining the cabin in a game of Pattern Master. A girl in his cabin said to him, “You can sit beside me! I’ll teach you how to play!” It was like the shyness melted away.

The Froggies Unit is so lucky to have such kind and compassionate campers that make sure everyone feels included.

When Froggies weren’t building friendships, they were trying a bunch of new stuff! Campers tried new tricks in Gymnastics, made invisible ink in Crazy Science, and built structures in Nature.

At Ribbit Recess this week, the Froggies had their own Olympics! There were a total of five events: shotput, sprint, high jump, long jump, and strongest kick. After the qualifiers, each cabin sent up their strongest athlete in each category to compete for the gold.

It was a fine showing of athleticism and each camper should be so proud of all the effort they put in. There was not a single camper who didn’t try their hardest at every event.

At the end of it all, there were fifteen different medalists amongst the Froggies. Each camper was cheered on and congratulated with an abundance of spirit from all the other campers; it didn’t matter if they won gold or bronze. Every camper was so proud of their friends’ accomplishments.

In Froggies, we had 2 Silly Banana winners and 2 Big Chair Winners. When one of the Froggies was going to the top of the Shmooze Hill to accept his Big Chair, two of his fellow cabin mates cheered him on and made sure to high five him for his accomplishment.

It’s that type of comradery that makes Froggies such a positive force around camp.

A huge thanks to all the campers that made this short week such an impactful one. To those who are back next week, have a fantastic weekend! And to our friends who are finished their AV fun for the summer, we can’t wait to see you again!

Staff Celebration Moment

This week we’d like to highlight Hamlet!

To be or not to be?

As a counsellor, Hamlet always makes sure her cabin is the place “to be”.

She’s dedicated to her campers’ happiness. Her kindness and compassion towards her campers ensure that they always feel welcomed and accepted.

Parent Question of the Week

If I know my camper won’t like an upcoming lunch or snack on the menu, can I pack them an alternative snack/ lunch?

Absolutely! Please feel free to pack your camper a nut safe alternative for snack or lunch.
