It’s hard to believe that this summer has come to a close. I guess time flies when you’re having fun! But luckily Froggies made the absolute most of this last week!
Even though it’s the last week of camp, it was great to see so many new faces. I’m proud of our returning campers making our new campers feel welcome.
When we had a new camper join a cabin this week, the returning campers were quick to teach the new camper the cabin cheer, “Froggies 1, we’re so fun! Froggies 1, here we come!”.
The feeling of friendship was strong this week, not just in Froggies, but throughout camp. There was a Kanga camper who won a Big Chair award, and one of the little Froggies cheered their name loudly, ran after them and was sure to give them a big congratulatory hug. In fact there was lots of hugging this week. From greetings to goodbyes, this week was was full of heart.
Between friendship bracelets and exchanged phone numbers, I know that many strong bonds were started here at camp.
Even on the last day, strong friendships are being forged. Today I saw two froggy campers realize they had so much in common and immediately become best friends. By lunch they were inseparable. At the end of the day, as one of the boys had to exit the gym and leave the other behind, he made sure to turn back around and shouted from the top of his lungs, across the gym, “Can I give you a hug?” The two kids ran to each other and gave the biggest goodbye hug of the summer.
Ribbit Recess was filled with little quests that the Froggies had to complete; quests such as giving an acorn to Acorn, drawing a picture of a frog in chalk, and performing the entire camp dance for Ducky. There was a flurry of excitment around camp, but Froggies 2 pulled ahead in the final moment, being the cabin that won this summer’s last Ribbit Recess. Congrats Froggies 2!
I can’t imagine how this summer could have been better! With amazing campers like the Froggies, the fun was non-stop. Thank you to all of the Froggies who made this year so special; we couldn’t have done camp without you. We can’t wait to see you all again!
Staff Celebration Moment
This week we would like to celebrate Burmy!
Although Burmy is not a Froggies counsellor, she was recently honoured as staff of the year and it’s important to give her all the praise she deserves.
Burmy’s dedication to spreading camp spirit puts her above the rest. Everything she does, she does with great care, compassion, and attention to detail. Camp would not be the same without Burmy!
Many of our Froggy campers who had her last year can attest to her kind camp spirit. Congrats on winning staff of the year Burmy!
