Lights, Camera, Action! How is it already week five? It is hard to believe we have added five weeks of memories to our 2023 camp season! From singing our favourite musical theatre tunes, to dance battles, to some amazing Slip n’ Slide adventures, it was an awesome week filled with laughter and fun. It was amazing to welcome new campers to the AV family and reunite with some old ones for another fantastic week.
Off to a show-stopping start: Kangas began their week with some amazing harmonizing in the composer’s corner when they played some amazing tunes during Bandology. The rhythm was off the charts, as they stepped into the rhythm of Broadway. During Quests with Koda, Kangas took some adventures to solve some escape room mysteries. During drama, Kangas didn’t miss a beat and we’re ready for their Broadway debut! From soccer to basketball, recording to archery, it was a blast of fun. In arts and crafts this week, campers were able to create their own sock puppets to star in their musicals with some new microphones that they made during Lounging with Lizard.
During Schmooze this week, we were Broadway bound to celebrate our theme this week, A night on Broadway! It was a battle during Minute to Win it Monday, where camper and counselor duo’s had to name as many musicals as they could. We had Frozen, Shrek, Hamilton, Wicked, Hairspray and so much more, we all walked away with some new shows being added to our watchlist! Tuesday Trivia was a hit, as we tested our showtime scoop when it comes to Broadway. We learned so much and we’re ready to hit that buzzer next time we are asked about some Broadway trivia. With the start of the month, we began a new round of Wednesday Warrior. Campers cheered on their counselors as they battled it out to continue on next week. During Thursday Thingys, we Named That Tune: Broadway Edition. Campers ran as fast as they could to name the tune and musical. Campers did not miss a beat and battled to win bragging rights for Thursday Thingys champions for week 5! We closed our week 5 Schmooze sessions, with our silly banana and big chairs winners. We can’t wait to continue adding amazing memories to our 2023 camp season!
