Kangas Week 2

This week was a hat-trick of fun, friends and fantastic activities. The Kangas were dribbling with excitement to be welcomed back for another awesome filled week at camp! From drumming to archery to crazy science, the Kangas could be seen bouncing around camp excited to tackle this week and make it one for the memory books.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of this week was seeing our campers come together as a close-knit community. Whether they were cheering on their favorite Kanga counselors during Wednesday Warrior or working collaboratively in our various activities, the bonds of friendship were truly evident.

This week, the Kangas community was vibrant and filled with many heartwarming displays of camaraderie and friendship. It shows how quickly the Kangas have been able to build a strong sense of community and a set of memories that will last a lifetime. One story that exemplifies this community is when campers were playing What Time is it Mr. Wolf and their game was interrupted because one camper was leaving early. Without hesitation, his friends chose to pause the game, recognizing that it wouldn’t be the same without all of the cabin being able to play the game. They made a pact to continue their fun and adventures together the next day, showcasing the strong bonds and empathy that define the Kanga community here at Adventure Valley. These moments highlight the spirit of unity and support that our campers have built so far this summer.

This week, our Kangas Unit experienced an unforgettable program that brought all our cabins together for an afternoon of Fun with Frizzle! We kicked off the event with energetic renditions of “Hey hey Bo Diddley Bop,” filling the air with laughter and rhythm. Following the musical excitement, campers collaborated to create our very own Kanga flag, showcasing their creativity and unit pride. The highlight of the day was our camper vs. staff soccer game, where cheers echoed across the fields as everyone rallied behind their teams. For those who preferred to cheer from the sidelines, they proudly held up our newly crafted Kanga banner, chanting our unit cheer: “Kanga kanga, kanga! Kanga kanga, kanga!” It was a joyous celebration of teamwork, creativity, and the strong bonds that unite us as the Kangas Unit.

Among our favorite activities this week, campers enthusiastically delved into a variety of creative and engaging experiences. In Fimo sessions, they showcased their artistic talents by crafting personalized medals, each design reflecting their unique style and imagination. Gaga ball tournaments brought fast-paced excitement to our playground, where campers honed their reflexes and strategy in friendly competitions. For those with a flair for culinary art, playdough making sessions allowed campers to mold and shape their own colorful creations, fostering both creativity and sensory exploration.

This week at Schmooze, we started with Minute to win it, where camper-counselor duos raced to win our ping-pong spoon race. The Kangas cheered on two of our Kanga staff, Sprite & Gravity while they raced against the clock. Tuesday Trivia had campers put their soccer knowledge to the test and for the second week in a row, a Kanga cabin came up with the win! Massive shout out to K2 for pulling off the win! Wednesday Warrior was a hit and we are thrilled to continue cheering on our Kanga staff. During Thursday Thingy’s, the Kangas could be heard cheering their counselors during our Lip Sync Battles. We closed the week celebrating two Big Chair winners and a silly banana winner in Kangas!

Staff Celebration Moment: Celebrating Claw

This week, we want to shine a spotlight on Claw, who embodies the spirit of fun and creativity at Adventure Valley. As our Fimo specialist and a beloved Kangas cabin care bear, Claw brings boundless energy and positivity to everything she does. Whether she’s guiding campers through intricate Fimo creations or dancing joyfully around camp, she is a true ray of sunshine. Her infectious enthusiasm and genuine care for each camper have made her a favorite among the Kangas unit. Claw’s dedication and vibrant personality uplight our entire community, and we are grateful to have her as an integral part of our camp family.

Caregiver Question of the Week

“Does programming still happen outdoors if it is raining?”

We try our best to stay outdoors as much as possible. Some activities will be moved indoors when it rains, but we ask that caregivers please send their campers with full outdoor wear on days when it is supposed to rain (raincoat, splash pants, hat, umbrella, rainboots and sweaters).

Warm regards,

Frizzle
