Kangas Week 2

The Kangas had a mighty awesome week here at camp! The energy was high going into a super fun-filled second week at AV and our campers spent the week with huge smiles on their faces going from activity to activity, powering up our imaginations and getting ready to learn all things machines on Friday with an epic costume day! From cranes to trains and even claw machines, this week was all about gears turning, wheels spinning, and engines revving as our campers showed off their creativity with so many awesome costumes.

Once again, we focused on another new quality of the week, and this time our staff and campers concentrated on honing their flexibility! Whether it was trying a new activity, working with a new partner, or adapting to some super-hot weather, the Kangas took every challenge in stride and rolled with the punches in any given situation.

From machine-inspired crafts to action-packed games, the Kangas gave it their all. At cartooning they designed their very own robot pals and channeled their inner Michelangelo at Fimo to bring their cartoons to life! They practiced their flexibility in gymnastics and in attitude, staying positive when things didn’t go as planned and cheering on their friends when trying something new. Whether it was adjusting the rules of a game, switching partners during an activity, or showing kindness when someone needed help, the Kangas kept showing us just how flexible they can be.

The highlight of the week? Unit Time, where we fired up some high-speed fun with Minute to Win It Charades — Cabin vs. Cabin edition! Think speed, silliness, and lots of guessing. Our campers went full throttle with their facial expressions and wacky gestures as they tried to act out everything from “building a house” to “Mario Kart.” Our counsellors stepped up and got to put their acting skills on display helping their cabins take home some points! There were big laughs, even bigger guesses, and the kind of spirited teamwork we love to see. Each cabin brought their A-game and supported each other with non-stop cheering (and maybe a little friendly rivalry too).

Staff Celebration; Shouting-out Rocket!

This week in Kangas we welcomed back Rocket for another summer at Adventure Valley! Rocket had a great first week back bonding with his campers, helping them try new things and certainly brought the heat this week with a CIA that was an instant hit. Rocket and his campers invented their own black-top board game using chalk, campers creativity, and a really cool concept! Each camper designed their own paper square to fit into the tiles on the sidewalk, complete with a unique rule on each space. Campers got strategic with their “move back” and “do a silly dance” spaces. On top of an awesome CIA, Rocket went into every activity with a smile on his face, encouraging his campers to try their best and cheering them on all day long.

Caregiver Question of the Week

What do I do if I’m dropping off my camper late?

Go to the west parking lot and give us a call, the camp phone number is on our sign, and someone will come and pick up your camper to bring them to their group!

It’s been a wheelie fun week packed with horsepower, hustle, and harmony! The Kangas have revved their engines and shown that when we shift into teamwork mode and fuel each other with encouragement, we can go the distance. We’re already geared up to cruise into more camp magic in Week 3—no speed bumps in sight!

All the best,
