Kangas Week 3

It was an electric third week here at AV for the Kanga’s, setting the rhythm with every activity, striking the right chord with their listening skills and perseverance.

This week, staff and campers worked to hone their perseverance skills, creating a perfect harmony around Kangaland where their confidence was palpable.

The skill of the week especially came in handy at Archery, which was the fan favourite activity today!

There were so many exciting things happening around camp this, but for the Kanga’s, Unit Time was highly anticipated.

News of a Kanga’s Talent Show started to spread early on in the week and cabins jumped at the chance, prepping, planning, and practicing before Thursday’s epic performance.

We saw soccer, art, gymnastics, dancing, and so many awesome Taylor Swift’s the Era’s Tour-worthy performances.

The Kangas showed up not only with their skills, but with a strong sense of community, cheering each other on the whole way through!

Staff Shoutouts: Celebrating Surge & Pickles!

This week we wanted to give a shoutout to not one, but TWO groovy counsellors, K1’s dynamic duo: Surge & Pickles!

Its hard to find either of them without a smiling face, great attitude, or an awesome back-pocket game their campers are sure to love.

During Thursday’s talent show Surge & Pickles showed off their hidden talent for reading eachothers minds, and of course ventriloquy!

Just like during the talent show, these two demonstrate teamwork and perseverance every day, showing their campers what it means to work together.

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: What happens on bad weather days (extreme heat/raining)?

A: On hot days, we put out sprinklers and have frequent water and shade breaks. On rainy days, we’ll continue programming outdoors if it’s only a light drizzle. But if the rain picks up, we shift to our rainy day locations and run indoor versions of our usual activities, ensuring the day stays active and fun—even without the sunshine!
