LIT Week 2

Hello Adventurers,

I am thrilled to bring you the latest update on our amazing Leaders-in-Training (LITs) at Adventure Valley Day Camp. Week 2 was nothing short of an exciting adventure for our LITs as they continued to explore camp life. Overall, this week was filled with growth, new friendships, and opportunities for our LITs to put their leadership abilities into practice.

On Monday, our LITs officially began their Adventure Valley placements. It was a significant milestone for them, and I am proud to report that their first week on the job was a success. Our LITs truly impressed the AV team with their enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to take on leadership responsibilities. I had the pleasure of witnessing a couple LITs explore Bunny and Kanga cabins. Not only did they embrace this opportunity with open arms, but they also managed to form strong bonds with the campers in those cabins.

Meanwhile, our other LITs worked alongside our talented activity specialists and sunshine counsellors. As activity specialists, they assisted their supervisors in running various activities for the campers. I was delighted to see their commitment and hard work in ensuring that everyone had a fantastic time. In their time with the sunshine counselors, LITs had the opportunity to support their supervisors while they provided individualized attention and care. Regarding placement, I would also like to give a special shout-out to KB for independently running Racquet Rallies on Thursday. The dedication and leadership he demonstrated was truly commendable! Despite the challenges all LITs faced this week, they certainly rose to the occasion and showcased great potential!

During our LIT sessions, we focused on developing various camp counselor skills. By engaging in discussions on professionalism, program planning, and behavior management, our crew gained valuable insight and felt well-prepared for placement. It was incredible to witness their growth and maturity as they learned to apply these essential skills.

As we wrap up Week 2, I am brimming with excitement for what lies ahead in Week 3. The journey for our Leaders-in-Training continues, and I am confident that they will continue to thrive, inspire, and make a positive impact on the Adventure Valley community.

Nova (LIT Director 2023)
