This week the LITs focused on community, connection, and communication. What does that mean you ask? It means we had a week full of laughs, smiles, and lots of questions! As part of their communication skill building the LITs learned how to ask follow up questions… a little process we like to call TM squared, or tell me more. The LITs even hosted their own talk show to practice asking each other follow up questions. Now, you can consider the LITs question-asking pros.
When they weren’t busy asking each other questions the LITs were hard at work building the foundation of their camp community. We hosted a show and tell which helped the LITs develop verbal communication skills, but beyond that it allowed our group to learn more about one another. We also took time to decorate the LITs placement t-shirts and make some boondoogle and bracelets!
Friday was fun-day! The LITs soared to new heights in Kangoo Kids, sang their hearts out in recording, flexed their cartooning skills, and learned new martial arts skills. The day was filled to the brim, but was filled with excitement.
We also had two big chair winners from the land of the LITs! A big chair is awarded to campers who demonstrate awesome qualities that we value at camp. For the LITs these qualities include leadership, responsibility, accountability, and kindness to name a few. Congratulations to our two big chair winners.
A Note from Clementine (LIT Co-Ordinator)
Congratulations on completing your first week as LITs.
It has been lovely getting to know all of you! Can’t wait for more fun next week.
LIT Caregiver Question of the Week
Should my camper wear their placement t-shirt to camp next week?
Your LIT should have their placement t-shirt with them at camp next Tuesday. They are welcome to put it on over their clothes or change into it later in the day, if they do not want to wear the shirt all day long. However, all LITs are required to wear their t-shirts when they are on placement.
Our mission is to grow the whole child through the traditional spirit and fun of camp. While your child is with us at Adventure Valley, our leadership team is devoted to developing their social dexterity and emotional intelligence, while amplifying their self confidence.
