LITs Week One

This week the quality of the week at camp was community. The LITs took that quality and ran with it… literally… when they defeated the community quest scavenger hunt with incredible speed. The scavenger hunt helped LITs become familiar with the camp community.

The LIT focus of the week was community, confidence, and communication building. The LITs spent a lot of time getting to know one another, including celebrating two LIT birthdays!

The LIT community was quickly established, which gave them lots of time to learn about communication. LITs engaged in different activities to help build good communication within their community.

When they weren’t practicing their communication, LITs were hard at work thinking about the most effective ways to communicate and listen. LITs learnt about active listening, and during their show and tell practiced active listening for one another.

The LITs showed up with tons of camp spirit on costume today. We had two silly banana winners for their Darwin and Gum Ball costumes! Silly bananas are awarded to campers with awesome and creative costumes.

In addition to our two silly bananas, we had a big chair winner! A big chair is awarded to a camper that demonstrates excellent camp values throughout the week.

When LITs were not hard at work learning the first building blocks to leadership, they enjoyed many epic rounds of Mafia. Other fan favourite games this week included Gaga Ball, Can’t Cross Canada, and Wax Museum!

The LITs also showed off their skills by doing the camp dance with tons of camp spirit during schmooze!

Caregiver Question of the Week: what do I do when I need to pick my camper up early?

If possible, please call camp at  905- 901-4862 or email camp@adventurevalley.ca Please note that camp has a blackout period between 3:15 and 3:50.
