Fun in LIT Land!
And that’s a wrap… on the LIT program for summer 2024. The LITs wasted no time in their last week. They started off the week in recording, where they transformed into Grammy-winning singers. The fun at activities did not end there though…as a group the LITs practiced their free-throws at basketball. They finished off their week by taking their best shots at archery.
As a group the LITs made slime from scratch, where we learned that many of the LITs were secret slime experts. When we weren’t in the slime lab, you could find the LITs on the field. The field was the site of an epic game of keep-up volleyball and ultimate frisbee. The LITs finished their week playing stones, a teamwork game.
Leadership Training
As the LIT program wrapped up, the LITs began looking ahead to their futures. This week focused on self-awareness and social-emotional learning. The LITs worked on regulating emotions. The first workshop on emotions focused on identifying different emotions in ourselves and others. The second part of the workshop allowed the LITs to discuss and brainstorm healthy ways to cope with emotions and stress.
Aside from social-emotional learning, the LITs thought a lot about the next steps in their leadership journeys. The group learned what a resumé is and how to write one. The LITs also set goals for themselves, and wrote letters to their future 2029 selves!
Placement Progress
In their final week at placement, the LITs were unstoppable! Their growth was evident from the maturity and responsibility they demonstrated. One camper even asked the LITs where their staff uniform shirts were… mistaking them for awesome AV counsellors!
Awards
This week the land of the LITs had one Big Chair winner and one Silly Banana winner.
A Big Chair is awarded to campers who exhibit great qualities that we value at camp such as responsibility, kindness, respect, etc.
A Silly Banana is awarded to campers who have amazingly creative costumes based on the week’s theme.
Congratulations to our Big Chair and Silly Banana winners.
We are all so sad to see the LIT program of 2024 come to an end, but we wish all of the LITs a fabulous end to their summers.
We are so proud of each and every one of you.
You have shown immense growth and you can be proud of all your dedication and determination.
We hope to see all of you back at AVDC again next year!

Park in the West parking lot and call the front desk. We will walk your camper up to the West parking lot and meet you. Please do not walk into camp looking for your camper.
