Frizzle: Bunnies Unit Head (She/Her)

🍎 FRIZZLE 🍎 is thrilled to be back at AVDC for her third summer, this year leading our Bunnies! She is no stranger to the world of camp, working with children of various age groups, creating unforgettable experiences and fostering a love for outdoor adventures. With her background in camp settings and a Master’s degree in teaching, Frizzle has a deep understanding of the unique needs and interests of campers. As a primary French Immersion teacher, she has honed her skills in creating engaging and inclusive educational environments. Her ability to connect with children and ignite their curiosity has been a hallmark of her teaching career.

Frizzle is committed to ensuring that your child’s experience at AV is nothing short of extraordinary. With her energetic and nurturing approach, she strives to create a safe and inclusive environment where campers can grow, develop new skills and forge lifelong friendships.

When she is not immersed in the camp and classroom atmosphere, you can find her with a book in hand, indulging in the power of storytelling and expanding her knowledge through literature. Music is also a significant part of her life, and she loves exploring different genres and attending live performances whenever she can.

Lizard: Froggies Unit Head (She/Her)

🩎 LIZARD🩎 is thrilled to return for her forth summer at AVDC, and this time she’s taking on our Froggie unit! Lizard is known around camp for her contagious “We’ve got this!” spirit! In fact, after her first summer at camp, Lizard received a special award at staff banquet for her unwavering resilience.

When she’s not at camp, Lizard can be found immersing herself in her passion for the arts. A recent graduate of Brock University in History and Drama, Lizard starts teacher’s college in the fall. She’s determined to become an amazing high school teacher, inspiring students with her love for these subjects.

But that’s not all! Lizard is also a talented musician who can play multiple instruments. Her favourite challenge is mastering new and tricky songs on her trusty guitar. And when she’s not strumming away, you’ll likely catch her experimenting in the kitchen, testing out delicious new recipes!

Sparkie: Kangas Unit Head (She/Her)

âšĄïžSPARKIEâšĄïž is so excited to spend her first summer at Adventure Valley, leading our Kangas unit! Sparkie is a camp kid through and through, having spent over fourteen summers at an overnight camp in northern Ontario, both as a camper and staff member. She is no stranger to the camp environment and is pumped to be joining the Adventure Valley family! As a child, she could be heard telling anyone who would listen that her dream job was Camp Counsellor, which eventually evolved into Teacher.

Sparkie has a passion for working with children and creating memorable experiences alongside her campers, helping them nurture the same love for camp that she has felt her entire life. Sparkie has a passion for community, which she demonstrates through her commitment to getting to know each and every one of her campers and ensuring they have nothing short of a great experience at AVDC. Her favourite part of camp, other than singing camp songs, is getting to make new friends and helping her campers do the same!

Outside of camp, Sparkie is a History Major at the University of Guelph, where she spends her time learning all things Canadian History. She is working towards her career goal of becoming a teacher, with plans to combine her obsession with history and love of working with children of all ages to become a history teacher. Besides school, Sparkie loves spending time outdoors, going on long walks with her dog Ruby, and is dedicated to being the cool aunt. Sparkie is a huge hockey fan, and she demonstrates a lot of resilience through her unwavering support of the Montreal Canadiens (and is secretly a massive Edmonton Oilers fan). If you ever need to find her, just shout, “Go Habs Go!” and she will come running.

Sizzle: Tigers Unit Head (She/her)

đŸ€©SIZZLEđŸ€© is fired up for her second summer at AVDC! Last year, as our soccer specialist, she could be spotted perfecting passes and running drills. This summer, Sizzle is trading in her cleats for a spot in the den, where she’ll lead the Tigers’ roaring crew as the Tigers Unit Head! She’s beyond excited to make the den her home and perfect her roar alongside her campers. She is dedicated to helping every Tiger make legendary memories, form new friendships, and leave the camp feeling more confident!

Sizzle has just completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology at Wilfrid Laurier University. This fall, she will be heading to Brock University to begin her journey in teacher’s college. Her ultimate goal is to become an elementary teacher!

Outside of camp, Sizzle is a devoted animal lover. She’s always learning about dogs, spending time with furry friends, and even visiting farms whenever possible. She is also a diehard sports fan and a proud (and resilient!) supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs. When she’s not cheering on her team, you can find her enjoying nature, whether she is relaxing in the sun, going on hikes, or simply soaking up the fresh air!

Clementine: LIT Co-ordinator(She/Her)

🍊CLEMENTINE🍊 is delighted to be returning to Adventure Valley for her second summer, reprising her role as LIT Co-ordinator! At age 4, she began attending summer camp. While the first day of camp was met with some nerves, she immediately fell in love with the camp magic!

Clementine has been both a camp volunteer and has worked as a camp counsellor in the past. After her first summer at AVDC last year, she is known for her enthusiasm (especially for playing games).
This year she is super excited to help grow tomorrow’s leaders (while playing games)!

When she is not at camp, you’ll still find Clementine doing activities outside! She loves spending her time camping, hiking, and running. She also enjoys reading and is always listening to music. Clementine is also a major sports fan and will definitely be keeping up with the Toronto Blue Jays this summer.

Spooky: Office Administrator (She/Her)

đŸ‘»SPOOKYđŸ‘» returns to camp once more reprising her role as our Office Administrator, where she serves as the friendly face and voice of Adventure Valley.

Spooky is known for her lightning-fast work pace; she can accomplish a full day’s tasks in a mere twenty-five minutes. It’s no wonder she has become the go-to person for quick solutions and timely responses. Whether you need help over the phone or through email, Spooky’s expertise and dedication will ensure that you receive the assistance you require promptly.

In Summer 2022, Spooky won the Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing her unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the AVDC community during her then six years at camp. Heading into her ninth summer, nothing has changed – she’s still the one we all rely on!

When she’s not at camp, you’ll find Spooky discovering and rating malls across Ontario, or re-watching the Nightmare Before Christmas. She can’t wait for another summer with our fantastic team of campers and staff!

Canary: First Aid Officer and Office Administrator (She/her)

🐩CANARY🐩 is excited to start her first summer at Adventure Valley as the First Aid Officer and Office Admin! Having done First Aid Training and working with kids for over six years now, she’s ready to help and heal anything that comes up at camp, so everyone can participate in our amazing activities! Determined to have a great summer, Canary will be bringing a can-do attitude to remind campers how awesome summer camp at Adventure Valley can be! Having been a lifeguard, swim instructor, and taught cadets, she is ready to foster a fun, educational, and safe environment for all campers!

When not at camp, you can find Canary either reading up a storm, as she loves to explore the amazing and fantastical worlds found in books, or drawing fun characters and animals. She also loves listening to all sorts of music, usually having some playing in the background no matter what she’s doing, from studying for her Bachelors of Arts and Science, to dancing around with her cat. Don’t forget to ask her for a fun fact, as Canary loves to share fun, wacky and weird tidbits and stories with anyone who would like to know!Â
