Three weeks into camp and the Tigers are having a blast! While we had some rainy weather this week, the Tigers still enjoyed all the fun activities that camp has to offer. Kangoo Kids in particular was loved by the Tigers this week, with each cabin asking their counsellors daily if today was “THE day.” In the trampoline shoes, campers got the chance to bounce around the gym like a kangaroo, and once they got comfortable they played games like Octopus and Dodgeball. It’s always fun at Kangoo Kids!
Each Tigers cabin did so many activities this week that it’s hard to only talk about a few of them. Tuesday’s Roaring Rallies activities with Marvel were unfortunately moved inside due to rain but were just as fun! Each cabin played a game of “How Well Do You Know Your Counsellor?” in the cafeteria where cabins attempted to see who knew their counsellor the best, guessing their answers to questions like “What’s your counsellor’s favourite colour?” and “What’s your counsellor’s favourite camp lunch?” After that, everyone moved to the gym to play so many awesome games like Cross Canada.
All the cabins had amazing moments this week that displayed the community that we work to foster at Adventure Valley. This was especially displayed this week by Tigers 1, who built the coolest fort this week during their Fort Building period. They even recruited Marvel to help collect sticks and logs to build the walls and entryway of the fort, showing excellent teamwork, collaboration, and communication along the way. Stellar work, T1!
For this week’s theme, Prehistoric, Tigers 2 did an amazing dinosaur-themed scavenger hunt, following the clues to find their prize. Campers were seen running all around camp looking for their next clue, and the anticipation grew for everyone watching them solve the puzzle.
The Tigers had a big week at camp, and not just in their activities. Tigers earned 4 Silly Bananas this week for their creative costumes for their Prehistoric-themed outfits, as well as 2 Big Chairs for their display of camp qualities everywhere they went. Tigers 3 also showed great leadership at this Friday’s Schmooze, volunteering to come up to the hill and help lead the whole camp in the camp dance and cheer! Keep up the amazing work!
Staff Celebration
This week’s staff shoutout goes to Fox, one of the amazing counsellors in Tigers 3! Fox always ensures that her campers are having the best time at camp while also having fun herself. This week especially, Fox displayed incredible commitment to involving this week’s theme in her camp activities. She created an activity for her cabin where they learned about fossils, making molds of fossils for her campers to then decorate however they wanted. She also showed her dedication to the Prehistoric theme through her costume, winning a Silly Banana for dressing as Fred Flintstone AND his car, even matching with another Tiger! Fox’s commitment to keeping camp silly and engaging while continuing to promote camp values to campers is only a small part of what makes her so amazing! Thanks for all your hard work, Fox!
