What a SUPER awesome week for the Tigers! This week was nothing short of epic as the Tigers enjoyed all of the fun that camp has to offer. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the summer, but these campers have made memories that will last forever. The Tigers did so many fun activities this week, from archery to arts and crafts, from crazy science to fort building, these campers did it all! Racquet Rallies allowed the Tigers to highlight their skills, working together within their cabins to learn how to serve, hit, and pass to one another. Look out for these future tennis superstars!
This week’s theme was Superheroes, and was a fan favourite from many campers. You could feel the Tigers’ heroic energy around camp all week long! In order to prepare for Friday’s costume day, this week’s Roaring Rallies with Marvel had campers brainstorming, drawing, and colouring their very own comic books! The Tigers displayed immense creativity, creating stories about their favourite superheroes, and even creating their own original heroes. Some campers worked together in groups to create these comics books, taking on different roles such as writer and illustrator, showing amazing collaboration!
This week had many fun activities during Schmooze, like Monday’s Minute to Win It challenge of how many squats a counsellor could do with a camper on their back, and Tuesday’s superhero trivia. As it was the last Wednesday of the month, we crowned our July Wednesday Warrior, Taffy. For Thursday Thingies this week, two groups of staff competed in our second lip sync battle of the summer, displaying their awesome creativity and performance skills. Congratulations to Team “It’s a Hard Knock Life” for winning this week’s lip sync, and shoutout to Vision and Arrow, two of our Tigers counsellors, and Zuma, one of our amazing Cabin Carebears! Friday’s award presentation saw three Silly Banana’s and one Big Chair awarded to Tigers, who continue to show their commitment to making AV the only camp where you would want to be!
Staff Celebration
This week’s staff celebration moment highlights Arrow. Arrow’s dedication to ensuring his campers feel seen and included can be witnessed by anyone around camp. He provides a safe space for his campers to learn, play, and experience the fun of camp. Many campers on Friday were waving goodbye to him from the parking lot, showing how much they appreciate him as a counsellor. His helpful and kind demeanour radiates throughout the Tigers unit to the rest of camp. Thanks for all your hard work, Arrow!
Caregiver Question of the Week
“Where do I pick up my camper if I’m picking them up from camp early?”
Please do not enter the camp grounds to look for your camper. Please park in the West parking lot and wait by the Adventure Valley sign. Call us at 905-901-4862 and we will bring your camper to you!
Looking forward to another amazing week!
