Tigers Week 6

Although this was a shorter week than others, the Tigers made the most of the time they had at camp! One less day of the week did not stop the Tigers from making so many new friends and amazing memories. This week’s nature programming had the Tigers exploring the creek in search of water, leaves, and stones to create their own mini-terrarium. Through their exploration, the Tigers became one with their environment and picked up any garbage they found along the way, keeping their environment safe and clean.

Roaring Rallies had the campers putting their skills to the test this week, with Marvel hosting the Tiger Olympics! The cabins rotated between three activities: a paper airplane contest where campers had to fly their plane into point-assigned holes, a ball toss similar to the paper airplane activity, and a hula-hoop relay race where campers had to toss a hula hoop on the ground in front of them and then jump into it. The cabins competed to see how many points they could earn, while showing great enthusiasm by cheering on their cabinmates! Each cabin could be heard chanting each others’ names and variations of “Let’s go!” The Tigers showed amazing Olympian-like qualities of resilience, collaboration, and sportsmanship.

The Tigers had so many fun activities this week, both Specialist and Counsellor-run. Campers had a blast at fan-favourite activities like recording, arts and crafts, and archery. This week was filled with variations of a camp favourite activity, the “Signature Scavenger Hunt,” where campers divide into two teams, each with one counsellor, and explore the entire camp gathering as many signatures of Adventure Valley staff as possible. The Tigers loved running around learning the names of all the staff and collecting as many signatures as possible. Many Tigers also showcased their dance moves during Schmooze each day, requesting that “Cotton Eyed Joe” be played so they could lead the camp in the dance, returning to their group with a lovely roll down the hill. What an amazing balance between leadership and silliness in our campers!

This Friday, the Tigers had many award winners: three Big Chairs and a Silly Banana! During the awards ceremony at Schmooze, the Tigers could be heard cheering loudly and proudly for their friends winning their awards. When one Tiger won his Big Chair, his cabinmates cheered his name and clapped for him, and upon his return to the group, there were plenty of high fives and fist bumps to go around. At the end of the day, the campers all did a group hug before they left as one last celebration of their friend’s win! Examples of friendship like today serve as an amazing reminder of the power of camp to form connections with others and celebrate everyone’s success!

Staff Celebration Moment

This week’s Tiger staff shoutout goes out to Wheels! Wheels never fails to make his campers feel included in every activity and conversation that happens within his cabin, and never lets someone sit off to the side alone. His ability to keep an eye out for his campers while playing in every activity with them is admirable, and displays his dedication to ensuring camp is fun for everyone! We appreciate you, Wheels!

Caregiver Question of the Week

“My camper doesn’t like what is coming up on the menu for lunch. Can I send snacks and/or lunch from home?”

Yes! Please ensure that whatever you send is nut safe.

Thanks for a great week, Tigers!
