Holiday concerts, the new mittens already missing, and the endless negotiation over whether it’s cold enough for a jacket… and the kids are vibrating with excitement (or is it sugar?!)
It’s wonderful.
It’s chaotic.
And it’s a lot.
You’re doing it — and you’re doing it beautifully.
Here’s a little boost to carry you through the final stretch of this holiday season –
A couple of summers ago, one of our counsellors, Pepper, was the type of person who could turn a rainy Tuesday into a Broadway musical. The energy. The games. The “yes, we can definitely build a spaceship out of popsicle sticks” attitude.
Then one week, we saw it.
That look.
The “I have sung Baby Shark 291 times and may never recover” look.
It happens to the best of us — even the most joyful people hit a wall.
Frizzle, her supervisor, noticed right away.
But instead of a talk about energy and leadership, Frizzle arrived the next day with a full watermelon, with a bow on top.
Why? Because Pepper loves watermelon.
And because sometimes, it’s not about advice — it’s about someone noticing all the effort you’ve been putting in and showing up in a way that says,
“I see your effort, I see you, and I’m cheering you on.”
It worked.
Pepper laughed so hard she cried, sliced it up, and shared it with her peers in the staff break room.
And suddenly, the last weeks of summer didn’t feel so heavy.
Consider this email your bow-wrapped watermelon moment.

December is made of tiny victories, and celebrating them counts.
So here is your official round of applause, straight from me to you.
I may only be able to offer rounds of applause right now, but I can definitely make your life easier at a different time of year – Summer.
