Kanga Week 7

What a week it has been for our Kangas! This week, our “Sky’s the Limit” theme gave campers the chance to dream big, get creative, and celebrate the people around them. From seeing their creations take flight to celebrating their friends, there were so many moments that reminded us that camp is about more than just the activities—it is about the friendships, confidence, and community we build along the way.

Our group activities gave campers plenty of opportunities to bring the theme to life! K2 took to the skies during their CIA with a paper airplane competition. Campers got to put their designs to the test and see just how far their creations could fly. It was a great opportunity to get creative, experiment with different designs, and enjoy some friendly competition along the way.

Over in K4, campers created their own collages, bringing together different materials and ideas to create something completely unique. Each camper had the opportunity to express their creativity and make their own contribution to the finished artwork. K1 also got creative by making their very own snow globe jars! Campers loved creating their miniature scenes and watching their ideas come together inside their own little snow globe creations.

One of the sweetest moments this week came from K4 when campers celebrated Lauren after she won Big Chair. Rather than simply celebrating her win from the sidelines, her fellow campers ran over to give her high fives and hugs. It was such a wonderful example of the supportive community we want to build at camp. Our campers are learning that celebrating someone else’s accomplishments can be just as exciting as celebrating our own!

We saw that same sense of friendship in K1 when Wellington had to leave camp early. His cabinmates were not ready to say goodbye just yet, so they all ran over to the Arts & Crafts window to give him one more goodbye before he left. It was such a heartwarming moment and a wonderful reminder of how quickly friendships can grow at camp. Even when someone has to leave early, our campers make sure their friends know just how much they will be missed.

One of our favourite traditions this summer is the Kanga Rubber Ducky Challenge! Every cabin has the opportunity to work together throughout the week to earn the coveted ducky by demonstrating teamwork and responsibility, to clean their tables after lunch. This week, K1 worked hard and earned the Rubber Ducky! Congratulations, K1! We love seeing our campers take ownership of their spaces and encourage one another along the way.

During Schmooze this week, we celebrated some amazing accomplishments across the Kangas. A huge congratulations goes to our Big Chair winners: Aziz and Abbie from K1, Lauren from K4, and Lilo from K3! We are also so proud of our Silly Banana winners: Isabella (K2), Maris (K1), Abbie (K1), Miles (K2), and Ada (K3).

Receiving their Three Year Longevity Award (their Turtle Tag) this week were: Miles (K2), Miles (K3), Islay (K3), Taylor (K4), and Cambrie (K4)! We appreciate your ongoing commitment to camp and look forward to many more summers together!

This week’s staff spotlight goes to Shine! Shine brings so much positivity and encouragement to camp every single day. She is a fantastic motivator who knows how to get campers excited, involved, and ready to give things their best effort. She consistently encourages her campers to keep trying, supports them when things are challenging, and celebrates their successes along the way.

This week, Shine played a huge role in helping K1 achieve something they had been working toward all summer: winning the Rubber Ducky Challenge for the very first time! Through her encouragement, motivation, and ability to get her campers working together, K1 was finally able to bring the coveted ducky back to their cabin. It was such an exciting accomplishment for the group, and Shine deserves a huge shoutout for helping them get there!

Caregiver Question of the Week

Can you please clarify the time window for drop off?

Drop Off takes place from 8:45AM – 9:15AM.

Our Kiss and Ride drop off begins at 8:45AM. Families who arrive earlier are welcome to wait inside or outside their vehicle. For those wanting earlier drop off, morning care is available from 8:00AM!

Our Kiss and Ride drop off ends promptly at 9:15AM. If you are dropping off your camper later than 9:15AM, please park in the FRONT parking lot (the one with all the columns) and give us a call. We will come collect your child! Please do not walk your child across the West parking lot if you arrive after 9:15AM. Once our staff remove our stanchion walkway, the space belongs to the bike camp.
