Bunnies Week 3

We’re hopping into the end of another amazing week, and our hearts are full of the memories our Bunnies have made together! We were reminded of the many little moments that make camp so special. One of the biggest highlights was watching some of our Bunnies say goodbye to friends and counsellors at the end of their time together. Hearing campers say things such as, “I’m so sad to leave camp, but don’t worry, I will be back next summer,” and promising friends, “I can’t wait to come back with you every summer,” warmed all of our staff’s hearts. These moments are why we do what we do – they show the incredible connections campers build at camp and how quickly a group of children can become a little camp family. Throughout the week, we heard so many examples of Bunnies welcoming others with a simple “Do you want to play with me?” or making sure there was room for everyone in their circles. Those small acts of kindness created a warm and inclusive environment where new friendships could grow.

Our specialist activities were full of creativity, curiosity, and excitement this week. In Arts and Crafts with Vine, campers created their own paper bag monster puppets, bringing their imaginations to life with unique designs and colourful creations. Crazy Science with Malibu had campers designing and testing their very own boats, putting their problem-solving skills and creativity to the test. Our Bunnies also had a blast drumming and playing sports with Jay, filling their week with rhythm, movement, and teamwork.

We loved seeing how proud campers were of their creations and how excited they were to share their finished projects with others. At home, caregivers can keep the camp conversations going by asking: “How did you decorate your paper bag monster?” and “What was your boat made of?”

The Bunnies also had an exciting unit program this week as we celebrated the FIFA World Cup! Campers created their own medals, decorated their own cleats, and played an awesome game of Soccer Ball Says. This program gave our Bunny groups a chance to spend time together, meet new friends, and express their creativity in their own unique ways. One of our favourite parts was seeing campers continue to wear their handmade medals throughout the week – they were so proud of what they had created and loved showing off their achievements.

Our Schmooze celebrations brought lots of excitement this week! We had our first Schmooze victory of the summer when B2 took home the Tuesday Trivia win. The campers were thrilled, and the excitement spread throughout the Bunny unit as everyone celebrated their accomplishment. B2 kept up the winning streak with a special Thursday Name that Tune competition – go B2 go!!

We also celebrated some very special campers who earned the Big Chair award for their kindness and positive contributions to their cabins. Congratulations to Siena from B4 and Elliot from B1 – we are so proud of your kindness and positive contributions to your cabins.

We also had a special birthday celebration for Isabelle from B3! Isabelle chose Citrus for her cup-in-the-face celebration, and her cabin had so much fun cheering her on and celebrating her special day together. Moments like these are what make camp feel like a community where everyone’s milestones are celebrated.

Staff Celebration Moment

This week, we want to celebrate Burmy for the incredible care and connection she brings to camp. Burmy has a special ability to make her campers feel like camp is home. She creates an environment where Bunnies feel safe, encouraged, and excited to try new activities, make new friends, and grow throughout their time here. Burmy also puts so much thought and creativity into her programming. This week, B1 created their own soccer jerseys using glue and tissue paper and turned them into wearable costumes so the whole cabin could have a matching look. Through activities like this, Burmy helps campers build confidence, express themselves, and feel proud of being part of their cabin community. Thank you, Burmy, for making the Bunny unit and camp a better place!

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: “How are decisions made regarding air quality and indoor programming?”

A: We use Air Quality Ontario’s website to monitor their hourly air quality health index ratings. For low risk ratings we continue the programming as normal. We modify programs at moderate risk levels (kids only being outside for half an hour doing an activity with no physical exertion). We move all programming indoors at high and very high risk levels
