Bunnies Week 5

This week, our Bunnies reminded us that one of the greatest gifts camp offers is the opportunity to build new friendships. As we welcomed new campers into our groups, it was heartwarming to watch returning campers invite new friends to join games, sit beside them during meals, and made sure no one had to face those first-day jitters alone. One particularly special moment came when a camper noticed a new friend feeling nervous and chose to sit with them until they were feeling better. By lunchtime on Monday, you would have thought everyone had been together all summer! The week was filled with giggles, encouragement, and thoughtful acts of kindness that helped every camper feel like they belonged. Another highlight came at the end of the day when several Bunnies asked if they could practice the camp dance so they would have every move ready for Schmooze. Throughout the week, you could also hear the Bunnies proudly practicing the camp cheer whenever they had the chance. Their excitement, enthusiasm, and camp spirit were truly contagious!

Our specialist activities gave campers plenty of opportunities to create, explore, and discover something new. In Arts & Crafts with Vine, the Bunnies became inventors at their very own Bubble Factory! Campers designed bubble wands before using them to create colourful bubble-inspired artwork, with each masterpiece as unique as its creator. During Crazy Science with Malibu, campers explored the wonders of static electricity by making Static Electricity Butterflies, sparking curiosity as they experimented with this fascinating science concept. Over in Nature with Shimmer, our Bunnies became explorers during a nature tour where they discovered different trees, grasses, and the natural world around camp. It was wonderful to see campers slowing down, observing their surroundings, and sharing what they noticed along the way. If you’re looking to continue the camp conversations at home, try asking your Bunny: “What was your favourite stop on the nature tour?” or “What artwork did you create with your bubble wand?”

Our Hop Hop Hooray program transformed the Bunnies into true Ocean Experts! Throughout the week, campers discovered different kinds of fish, learned about life under the sea, and even tried their hand at “fishing” by searching for their chosen fish in our mini pond. Between ocean-themed games, colouring activities, and hands-on exploration, there was always something exciting happening. One of the best parts was hearing everyone eagerly share their favourite ocean creatures. Whether they loved colourful tropical fish, sharks, dolphins, or sea turtles, campers enjoyed learning from one another while celebrating the amazing variety found beneath the waves.

While the Bunnies didn’t bring home any Schmooze competition titles this week, they demonstrated something just as important: outstanding effort, teamwork, encouragement, and sportsmanship. We couldn’t be prouder of the way they supported one another and celebrated each other’s successes throughout every activity. Congratulations to our Silly Banana recipients: Nathan (B2) for his awesome “Chicken Crossing the Road” costume, Asya (B3) for her bright and creative sunflower costume, and one of our wonderful B1 counsellors, Burmy! Our Big Chair winners this week were Ara (B1), Asya (B3), and Nora (B3), who each demonstrated courage by trying new things and kindness by supporting those around them. We also had the opportunity to celebrate Ara’s birthday on Friday! It was a wonderful way to end the week, with all of the Bunnies coming together to celebrate one of their friends and make her day extra special.

Staff Celebration Moment

This week’s staff spotlight shines on Waddles! Waddles has a remarkable ability to help every camper feel welcomed, valued, and included from the moment they arrive. Whether she’s encouraging campers to step outside their comfort zone, helping new friendships blossom, or cheering campers on as they tackle new experiences, she approaches every interaction with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Her positive energy is felt throughout the Bunnies unit and helps create an environment where campers feel safe, supported, and excited to be themselves. We are so grateful for the care, encouragement, and joy she brings to camp each day.

Caregiver Question of the Week:

Is there camp on Monday??

No! We are closed for the Civic Holiday. Please enjoy an extra day together, and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!
