This week on the AV Farm was all about spending time together, making memories, and enjoying everything camp has to offer. Whether campers were sharing laughs with friends, jumping into games, or simply making the most of each day, it was great to see them continue building relationships and becoming more comfortable with one another. Throughout the week, our campers embraced every opportunity to have fun, support each other, and create the kind of moments that make camp such a special place. While every day brought something different, the sense of community and excitement that filled the unit was what stood out the most.
Our specialists helped bring the Farm theme to life in fun and unique ways throughout the week. In Arts & Crafts with Vine, campers designed colourful chameleon mosaics using tissue paper, each one as unique as its creator. Meanwhile, Recording with Echo gave everyone the chance to become camp superstars as they sang karaoke-style songs and recorded their performances. Whether they were creating, performing, or cheering on their friends, campers embraced trying something new while having fun together.
One of the biggest highlights of the week was our Farm-themed Ribbit Recess, “Franken-Farm”! Campers teamed up for an imaginative activity where they rolled dice to discover different animal ears, hair, tails, and feet before creating their own hilarious farm creatures. The activity was filled with laughter as campers proudly compared their silly combinations and admired each other’s creations. A special thank you to Maple for taking the initiative to lead such a creative activity that brought the unit together!
This week’s Schmooze celebrations included a tie in Tuesday Trivia between F3 and T4 – congratulations to both cabins! In Wednesday Warrior, Fluffy came out on top to wrap up this month’s competition, while Emu gave it a great run in the final round. A huge thank you to everyone who participated throughout July, and stay tuned as a brand-new competition begins in August! We also celebrated F3’s Eric’s birthday on Friday before his big day on Saturday, making sure he got a proper camp celebration with lots of birthday wishes. Congratulations as well to Leo (F3) for earning a Silly Banana for his outstanding weathervane costume!
Staff Celebration Moment
This week’s staff celebration goes to… Maple! Maple is one of those counsellors who naturally makes camp a better place just by being herself. She is incredibly caring, thoughtful, and always willing to jump in wherever she’s needed. Whether she’s planning something creative, making sure every camper feels included, or simply taking the time to check in with a child who needs a little extra support, she brings a calm, positive energy to everything she does. Caregivers can feel confident knowing their children are spending their days with someone who genuinely cares about them and works hard to make camp a fun, safe, and welcoming place for everyone.
