The second week of the LIT program aimed at building cooperation and counselling skills, and what a perfect week to start building these skills, considering the LITs started placement this week! Placement is the aspect of the LIT program that allows the LITs to practice their leadership skills in real time with younger cabin groups or activities at camp. You never would have been able to tell the LITs were new to placement by the way they could be seen leading the fun for their campers! Bunnies and Froggies could be heard calling out their LIT’s names in glee when they saw them coming. We are so impressed by the maturity and leadership the LITs showed.
Aside from their time at placement the LITs competed in an epic cooperation challenge with their Unit Head Clementine. The group started off with the “Helium Stick” challenge which required them to lower a pool noodle to the ground… the catch is that each person could only use one finger! The second challenge was a fabulous game of “Bolf” and it was no match for the teamwork of the LITs. The final challenge, the “Walk of Life”, required the LITs to strategize as a team and cross a series of planks together. Again the LITs absolutely crushed the challenge and became the victors of the cooperation challenge!
Another surprise the LITs had in the works this week was their performance at MusicFest. They spent time with the MusicFest legend, Otter, to select their song. Once they settled on “Alligator” the LITs perfected their performance. May we just say – wow! They once again rocked Music Fest; they were the stars of the show.
The Land of the LITs had two Big Chair winners! A Big Chair is awarded to campers who demonstrate awesome qualities that fall under the two pillars of AV which are building community and growth mindset. Campers are nominated by staff and selected by our Leadership Team. These two LITs demonstrated lots of cooperation (way to stay on theme), kindness, leadership, and more amazing qualities! Congratulations.
A Note from Clementine:
Thanks for another fun week filled with laughs and fun. We cannot wait to see what you all accomplish next week. Have a fantastic weekend, see you on Monday!
Caregiver Question of the Week
Can you please clarify the time window for drop off?
Drop Off takes place from 8:45AM – 9:15AM.
Our Kiss and Ride drop off begins at 8:45AM. Families who arrive earlier are welcome to wait inside or outside their vehicle. For those wanting earlier drop off, morning care is available from 8:00AM!
Our Kiss and Ride drop off ends promptly at 9:15AM. If you are dropping off your camper later than 9:15AM, please park in the FRONT parking lot (the one with all the columns) and give us a call. We will come collect your child! Please do not walk your child across the West parking lot if you arrive after 9:15AM. Once our staff remove our stanchion walkway, the space belongs to the bike camp.
