Froggies Week 2

Another incredible week has come and gone in the Froggies, and what a week it was! There wasn’t one single moment that defined our time together—it was the countless little moments that made this week so special. From the second campers arrived each morning, the unit was buzzing with laughter, imagination, and excitement. New friendships continued to blossom, cabins grew even closer, and it was wonderful to watch our Froggies naturally create a welcoming community where everyone could join in on the fun. Whether they were sharing jokes, playing together during free time, or encouraging one another throughout the day, the kindness and joy they brought to camp made this week’s AV Toy Box theme one to remember. Watching campers feel comfortable enough to be their wonderfully silly selves is one of the best parts of camp, and this week was filled with smiles, laughter, and memories that we’ll be talking about long after summer ends.

Our specialist activities gave campers plenty of opportunities to explore, create, and challenge themselves. During Racquet Rallies with Gopher, Froggies practiced their tennis and badminton skills while taking on exciting catching challenges that helped build coordination, confidence, perseverance, and great sportsmanship. It was amazing to watch campers celebrate one another’s successes, cheer on their friends, and keep trying even when a challenge felt tricky. Over in Nature with Shimmer, campers got their hands dirty planting chia seeds and learning about how living things grow. They carefully prepared their pots, planted their seeds, and discovered that even the smallest beginnings can grow into something amazing with a little care and patience.

The fun certainly didn’t stop there! Throughout the week, campers explored a little bit of everything as they jumped into Science, Arts and Crafts, Soccer, Sand Play, Recording, Music Fest, Co-op Games, and plenty of outdoor adventures. No matter where the day took them, the excitement was contagious. It was wonderful to see campers eagerly trying new things, celebrating each other’s accomplishments, and embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm. The AV Toy Box theme encouraged creativity around every corner, and our Froggies showed us that sometimes the best toys—and the best memories—are made with a little imagination and a lot of friends.

Congratulations to our Froggies who were recognized during Schmooze this week! A huge shoutout goes to F5 for winning Tuesday Trivia – way to show off your teamwork and knowledge! Congratulations as well to Maple and Pluto, who battled their way through Wednesday Warrior and advanced to the next round. Although Cipher won’t be advancing, we want to thank him for proudly representing the Froggies. Campers had a blast cheering during Thursday Thingies, where two Kangas staff members plus our LITs put on entertaining lip sync performances. A very special congratulations goes to Adi (F4) for earning a 3-Year Tag – thank you for being such an important part of our camp community! Finally, congratulations to Nolan (F5) for taking home a Big Chair award this week

Staff Celebration Moment

This week’s staff shoutout goes to… Yogi! Yogi is one of those people who quietly makes camp run smoothly every single day. She brings a calm, caring presence that helps campers feel safe, supported, and ready to take on each new adventure. Whether she’s helping campers navigate their day, providing extra encouragement, or making sure routines stay consistent, she always has our campers’ best interests at heart. Yogi takes the time to build genuine relationships with each child, making sure every Froggie feels noticed, valued, and included. Her patience, responsibility, and dedication create an environment where campers can thrive, and our unit is incredibly lucky to have her on the team.

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: I need to pick up my camper early. Where do I go?

A: All late drop offs and early pick ups will take place in the MAIN parking lot. Please note that this is a different parking lot than where regular drop off and pick up takes place. Please call us at 905-901-4862, and we will come to you.
