Kangas Week 3

What a week it has been in the Kangas unit! From solving mysteries and designing jerseys to cheering each other on and celebrating big accomplishments, our Kangas showed what it truly means to be a team.

One of the biggest highlights of our week was the exciting conclusion of our Rubber Duck & Messi Jersey Rescue Mission! The campers were given a very important mission from Rubber Duck: help find Lionel Messi’s missing jerseys before he arrived at Adventure Valley. Each cabin worked together to solve riddles, follow clues, and search throughout the school to find the missing jersey pieces. The excitement grew with every clue solved, especially once campers realized they were helping Messi!

After collecting all their pieces, each cabin returned to Kanga Forest, where they worked together to rebuild their jersey and then designed their very own Kanga Cup jerseys. The creativity, teamwork, and collaboration we saw throughout this challenge were incredible. Campers shared ideas, encouraged one another, and worked together to create something they were proud of.

On Friday, the Kangas received a very special surprise, a confidential envelope from Messi himself! Inside was a heartfelt message thanking campers for their teamwork and creativity, along with signed Messi player cards featuring their Kanga jerseys. The excitement was unforgettable! Campers were jumping up and down, completely shocked and amazed that Messi had left them a special message. While the jerseys were amazing, what stood out most was the way our Kangas worked together to create them.

Messi had a very difficult decision to make after seeing all the incredible designs and decided that K3, K4, and K5 would each earn a Kanga Cup point for their outstanding creativity! He reminded our campers that great teams are built through communication, encouragement, and never giving up—and our Kangas showed all of those qualities this week.

Our Kangas had a wonderful week exploring their specialist activities and trying new things!

In Arts & Crafts, campers created adorable frog projects with a fun twist—the frogs had moving tongues that popped out when campers blew into a straw! This activity encouraged creativity, patience, and lots of laughs as campers tested out their creations.

During Drumming, our Kangas welcomed a special outside group who taught them different rhythms and helped campers explore the power of music and teamwork. Campers had the opportunity to learn new beats, follow along together, and experience what it feels like to create music as a group.

Caregivers, here are some fun questions to ask your camper this week:

  • “What was the funniest thing that happened during drama?”
  • “Who came to teach you drumming this week?”

This week’s Jivin Joeys challenge brought the Kangas together for an adventure filled with problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. Our campers became detectives as they worked through the Rubber Duck and Messi Jersey Rescue Mission.

The most exciting part for many campers was exploring the camp, solving riddles, and working together to discover where the clues would lead next. Every cabin had to communicate, stay organized, and support one another to complete the mission.

One of the most amazing things to watch was the collaboration between campers. Whether they were searching for clues, piecing together jerseys, or sharing ideas for their designs, our Kangas truly worked as a team.

We also saw incredible cabin teamwork during the Rubber Ducky Challenge! K3 spent the entire week working toward their goal of winning the challenge. They came to lunch ready to help each other, divided responsibilities, encouraged one another, and made keeping their area clean a team effort. Their hard work paid off when they were announced as the Rubber Ducky Challenge winners!

K3 celebrated by receiving special medals and their very own mini rubber duckies. They proudly wore their medals for the rest of camp, showing off their teamwork and cabin pride.

Our Kangas had lots to celebrate this week!

A huge congratulations to our campers celebrating their camp milestones:

Staff Celebration Moment

This week we are celebrating Avocado!

Avocado brings so much energy, kindness, and joy to the Kangas every day. She is always cheering campers on, helping them feel safe, supported, and excited to be at camp. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she has a wonderful ability to make every camper feel included.

One of the moments that stood out this week was watching Avocado celebrate with her cabin after they won the Rubber Ducky Challenge. She cheered them on, celebrated their teamwork, and proudly wore the medal alongside them. It was a perfect example of the way she shows up for campers—not just for the big moments, but for all the little moments that make camp special.

Behind the scenes, Avocado is calm, nurturing, organized, and always ready to have fun. We are so lucky to have her as part of the Kangas team!

“How are decisions made regarding air quality and indoor programming?”

At Adventure Valley, camper safety is always our top priority. We use Air Quality Ontario’s website to monitor hourly Air Quality Health Index ratings throughout the day.

  • During low-risk air quality levels, programming continues as normal.
  • During moderate-risk levels, we modify outdoor activities. Campers may spend shorter periods outside (approximately 30 minutes) while participating in activities that do not require high physical exertion.
  • During high and very high-risk levels, all programming moves indoors.

These decisions allow us to continue providing campers with meaningful, fun experiences while ensuring we are creating the safest environment possible.

Thank you for another amazing week, Kangas families! We are so proud of the teamwork, creativity, kindness, and confidence our campers showed this week. We can’t wait to see what adventures are waiting for us next!
