Acorn: Bunnies Unit Head (She/Her)
ACORN, our new Bunnies Unit Head, is a nature enthusiast with a heart full of camp spirit. Acorn has been part of the camp community since she was 8 years old, cherishing the sense of community and the unforgettable memories created each summer. Now, she is thrilled to bring her passion and experience to the Adventure Valley Day Camp team.
With her first year of teacher’s college at Wilfrid Laurier University under her belt, Acorn brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to her role. She has extensive experience working with children and is committed to making sure every camper feels included and valued. Acorn’s love for the outdoors and her nurturing nature make her an excellent leader for our young campers, fostering an environment where they can explore, learn, and grow.
In her spare time, Acorn enjoys cooking and baking, often incorporating her love for nature into her culinary creations. She is excited to share her enthusiasm for the great outdoors and her positive energy with the Bunnies unit this summer.
Acorn is eager to create a magical camp experience, filled with fun, learning, and lasting friendships!
Ducky: Froggies Unit Head (She/Her)
Ducky can’t wait for her second summer at AVDC to begin! While last year she had a fun roaring with the Tigers, Ducky knows that she’ll have a blast hopping with the Froggies this summer as the Froggies Unit Head.
As a kid, Ducky always had an awesome time at camp and is so excited to be providing those experiences to kids now. She’s committed to providing a safe, fun, and inclusive environment to all campers and help them make the kind of memories and friendships that can last a lifetime. Ducky cannot wait to do the camp dance with everyone and build that camp community that made her childhood so special.
When she’s not at camp, Ducky is pursuing her teaching degree at Brock University. With only one more year to go, she feels unstoppable! Outside of her educational passions, Ducky enjoys camping, concerts, and movie nights with friends.
Marvel: Tigers Unit Head (She/her)
🌟MARVEL🌟 returns to AVDC for her third summer! She has served both as a Tigers Counsellor, and as our Operations Coordinator, and now returns to her Tiger roots! Marvel is known for spreading positivity and joy across camp.
If you are ever looking for Marvel in the wild, chances are you will find her watching a musical or a movie – probably superhero related! Her favourite superhero is Captain America. In fact, instead of labelling her items at camp, you’ll know you’ve found something of Marvel’s when you find the Captain America shield!
Marvel has now completed the undergraduate part of her concurrent education program at Brock University. She is excited to start teacher’s college in the fall, with the ultimate goal of teaching drama and history to high school students.
Lizard: Operations Co-ordinator(She/her)
🦎 LIZARD🦎 is thrilled to return for her third summer at AVDC, and this time she’s taking on our Operations! She’s super excited to support her staff while ensuring epic programs for our campers. Lizard has served on the AVDC team as both a Kangas counsellor and unit head, and has rightfully earned a reputation for her unwavering resilience and contagious “We’ve got this!” spirit!
When she’s not at camp, Lizard can be found immersing herself in her passion for the arts as a Drama and History student at Brock University. She’s determined to become an amazing high school teacher, inspiring students with her love for these subjects. But that’s not all! Lizard is also a talented musician who can play multiple instruments. Her favourite challenge is mastering new and tricky songs on her trusty guitar. And when she’s not strumming away, you’ll likely catch her playing with her adorable dog or experimenting in the kitchen, testing out delicious new recipes!
Mochi: First Aid Officer (She/her)
Mochi is a 4th year nursing student at York University with a passion for helping kids and having fun! Her favourite things to do include playing volleyball, singing songs around a campfire, and dancing until her feet hurt. She’s so excited to have a fun, happy and safe summer with all of the campers!
