Bunnies Week 8

As the sun set on our final week of Summer 2025, the Bunnies hopped into every moment with boundless joy, laughter, and excitement. Week 8 is always a special one—it’s a time for celebrating all the memories we’ve made, the friendships that have grown stronger with each passing day, and the incredible spirit of AVDC that will stay with us forever. With our theme of AVDC Forever, the Bunnies truly embodied the heart of camp: trying new things, supporting one another, and having an absolute blast from start to finish.

This week, our Bunnies stretched, leaped, and twirled their way through a full slate of activities. In yoga, campers found their balance (and even a little bit of calm in between all the excitement of camp life), while gymnastics had them flipping, rolling, and reaching new heights. During dance, we saw campers showing off moves that could rival the pros, and in Jr. Multisport, the energy was off the charts as Bunnies sprinted, jumped, and played their hearts out. Over in parachute, there were so many giggles as the Bunnies made waves, bounced balls, and dove under the rainbow parachute together. At Lego Fun Factory, creativity ruled the day—imagination became reality one brick at a time, with towers, castles, and whole worlds being built. This week’s science adventure was an explosive hit—literally! The Bunnies got to make their very own mini volcanoes, complete with bubbling “lava.” With a little baking soda, vinegar, and a splash of food coloring, campers transformed simple ingredients into amazing eruptions that had everyone wide-eyed and cheering. It was more than just a fun experiment—it was a chance to see science come alive right before their eyes, sparking curiosity and wonder about the way the world works. In arts and crafts, our Bunnies got crafty with a twist—making friendship bracelets out of pasta! With a rainbow of painted noodles, shiny beads, and string, campers carefully threaded each piece together to create something truly special. These pasta bracelets weren’t just fun to make—they were a beautiful reminder of the friendships built in the Bunny unit this summer. Campers proudly swapped their bracelets with one another, showing off creations that were as unique as they are.

Our last week of Schmooze was one for the books! For our Minute to Win It Monday finale, campers teamed up with their counselors for a precision challenge like no other. Counselors had to balance a popsicle stick on their finger while campers stacked mini blocks on top. It took patience, teamwork, and a whole lot of laughter, but in the end, a Kanga cabin rose to victory. On Tuesday Trivia, AVDC knowledge was put to the test, and after a fierce showdown, our LITs and Froggies 4 came out on top. Wednesday brought the grand finale of our Wednesday Warrior series—a thrilling bingo-style mission game where teams raced to complete five tasks to claim the win. The competition was fierce, but Pacific proudly claimed the August 2025 Wednesday Warrior title. For Thursday Thingys, we closed the season with the final lip sync battle, where every team left it all on the stage in pursuit of the coveted Dabbing Dino. After electric performances, Team Otter snagged the win. We wrapped up the week by celebrating our beloved Silly Bananas and the honor of the Big Chairs. Congratulations to our two Bunnies who earned Big Chairs and two Silly Banana winners for their fantastic costume—it was the perfect send-off!

This week, our Hop Hop Hooray was extra special because two of our very own Bunny staff ran unit-wide events! We kicked things off with Burmy, who gave each camper their very own Bunny plush. Campers got to stuff it, give it a name, and even place a heart inside during a special heart ceremony. It was a magical moment—every camper walked away beaming with pride, hugging their new Bunny buddy close. The room was absolutely filled with joy, laughter, and the sound of little hops as the campers introduced their new plush friends to each other. Then on Thursday, Snoopy took the reins with her superhero-themed adventure. She started with a dramatic twist: a newspaper article announced that a sneaky villain had stolen the Big Chair! The Bunnies knew they had to rise to the challenge. To prepare for their heroic mission, they each got to make their very own superhero cape, designing it with colors and symbols that showed off their Bunny superpowers. Once suited up, the campers set out on their mission to rescue the Big Chair, full of excitement, determination, and teamwork. With Snoopy leading the charge, the activity felt like stepping straight into a comic book—and the campers loved every second of it!

The Bunnies have shown us all summer long just how strong and supportive their community is, and this week was no exception. When a camper spilled their lunch and ketchup went everywhere, another camper immediately jumped in to help clean up. One by one, the rest of the cabin joined in too, turning what could have been a stressful moment into a beautiful act of teamwork and kindness. Later in the week, when two of our Bunny counselors each ran their very own unit-wide events, the campers cheered them on with so much pride, telling them what a great job they did. The Bunnies truly celebrate one another’s successes, big or small, and it has been so heartwarming to see that spirit of camaraderie shine through in every corner of the unit.

Staff Celebration Moment

This week, we celebrate Petal! Patient, kind, and endlessly nurturing, Petal brings such warmth and positivity to the Bunny unit each and every day. She has a natural gift for making every camper feel seen, heard, and valued, whether it’s through a quiet word of encouragement, a big cheer during activities, or simply her calm and steady presence. Petal is the type of counselor who notices the little things that matter most—like a camper feeling shy during group time or someone needing an extra hand at arts and crafts—and she always steps in with patience and care. Her gentle encouragement inspires confidence, helping campers try new things and feel proud of their accomplishments.

The campers absolutely adore her, and it’s easy to see why: she radiates positivity and creates a safe, happy space where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. Beyond the campers, the rest of the Bunny team is endlessly grateful for Petal’s thoughtfulness, reliability, and team spirit. She’s always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or lift up her teammates with her supportive nature. Petal, you are a true star!

Caregiver Question of the Week

Q: When does registration open for summer 2026?

A: Registration for summer 2026 opens around October each year. Keep an eye out for updates. We can’t wait to welcome even more campers back for another summer of fun, friendship, and adventure.

As we close out Week 8 and say goodbye to Summer 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the laughter, learning, and love that defined our season together. From the smallest giggles to the biggest victories, every Bunny played a part in making this summer one to remember. The bonds formed, the challenges overcome, and the pure joy shared will stay with us long after camp is over. What an incredible summer it has been—we are already counting down the days until Summer 2026. Until then, the Bunnies will always carry the spirit of AVDC Forever in their hearts.
