Tigers Week 8

This week, the Tigers leapt into an unforgettable final week at camp, celebrating our theme: Adventure Valley Day Camp Forever! From taking on exciting challenges that pushed us out of our comfort zones to creating heartfelt goodbye messages to camp, the spirit of exploration and teamwork was at the core of everything we did. Our Quality of the Week was Leadership, and the Tigers proved that true leaders lead through actions and kindness. One of the most memorable moments happened on Friday when a few Tigers left their activities early to grab snacks for the entire unit. They brought them back to the Tiger Den, made sure everyone got the right snack, and served their cabinmates before themselves. It was an incredible example of leadership in action and the perfect way to wrap up a summer full of growth, fun, and friendship!

The Tigers had another fantastic week at camp, filled with energy, laughter, and, of course, the return of our newest favorite program: Choose Your Own Activity (CYOA)! Back for its second week, CYOA continued to be a game-changer, giving Tigers the chance to take control of their camp experience and pick the activities that excited them most. Three times this week, each camper stepped into the driver’s seat, making choices that shaped their own adventure. Some Tigers went back to the activities they loved most, while others embraced the challenge of trying something completely new and discovering talents they didn’t know they had! What makes CYOA so special isn’t just the variety of activities, but the independence and confidence it builds. Every decision was an opportunity for our campers to show leadership and take ownership of their day. The excitement on their faces when making their choices was unforgettable! And the activities? Even better than last week! Tigers got creative with shrinky dinks with Mojo, brought their entrepreneurial spirit to life by making a lemonade stand with Lemon, and showed off their athletic side during flag football with Wheels.

This week’s Sizzle Shenanigans was packed with creativity, camp pride, and a little bit of future fashion flair! We started with a lively round of Camp-Themed Bingo, where the Tigers cheered each other on and celebrated every win with huge smiles. Then came the main event: design time! Each camper created their very own ragtag charms and custom camp shirts, showing off bold colors, unique patterns, and tons of personality. The designs were so amazing that some might even inspire official camp merchandise for next summer! The Tigers worked together beautifully, sharing supplies, swapping ideas, and supporting each other every step of the way. It was the perfect mix of fun, teamwork, and creativity that made this week unforgettable. This week was extra special thanks to an additional unit activity planned by the Tigers’ counsellors, an epic water balloon battle: Campers vs. Counsellors! It was an afternoon full of laughter, splashes, and friendly competition. The counsellors gave it their all, but in the end, the campers claimed a well-deserved victory! It was the perfect way to cool off, have fun, and wrap up an unforgettable summer at camp.

This week was all about celebration as the Tigers showed off their creativity and amazing character! Our Silly Bananas, given for the most imaginative costumes, were an absolute hit. Matthew turned heads with his awesome AV bus design, Cole impressed everyone with his super-cool RagTagz-inspired look, and Amelie rocked an AV bucket hat costume that was a camp favourite! We also had the honour of awarding the Big Chairs, reserved for campers who consistently show leadership, kindness, and camp spirit. This week, Leah earned a spot for her positivity and willingness to help others, Gia was recognized for her kindness and encouragement toward her peers, and Orson shone through his enthusiasm and team-first attitude.

Staff Shoutout: Fiji!

Each week we love to shine the spotlight on one of our staff, our last Tiger shoutout of the summer is Fiji! Fiji’s leadership, energy, and sense of humour make her a standout. She has a remarkable ability to get to know each camper, making everyone feel included, supported, and ready to have fun. Whether she’s leading an activity, sharing a laugh, or cheering on her campers, Fiji brings joy and positivity to every moment. Her creativity, warmth, and playful spirit make her an unforgettable part of our camp family. The Tigers would not be the same without Fiji and we are so lucky to have her!
