Tigers Week 5

What an amazing fifth week of camp! The Tigers kept up their excitement and positive attitudes about all the activities they tried at camp this week. Campers had an awesome time playing activities like basketball, where campers got to practice their dribbling skills and shooting three-pointers. Although it was a bit difficult at first, the Tigers persevered through the challenges they faced and learned new skills, showing that we can do hard things at camp, even if they’re uncomfortable at first!

The Tigers worked hard to make sure everyone felt included in the Adventure Valley community, whether they were at camp for the first time or have returned for multiple summers. This was seen especially at Gaga this week, when Tiger campers would ask their fellow Tigers who were playing during snack if they could join. The campers enthusiastically agreed, and asked their new friends everyday if they wanted to play Gaga together!

During this week’s Roaring Rallies, campers got the chance to have their own lip-sync battle between the four Tigers cabins. Across four weeks of the summer at Thursday Schmooze, two teams of counsellors get to perform lip-sync battles in front of the entire camp. While these are fun to watch, campers often ask, “When do we get to be a part of the lip-sync battles?” Tuesday was their lucky day, and each cabin selected a song to lip-sync to and created awesome choreography to perform for Marvel and the rest of the unit. We’ve found our new generation of performers in these Tigers!

The Tigers celebrated each other very frequently this week, cheering on their peers when they were at activities and playing games with each other, as well as during Schmooze activities that involved campers and counsellors working together to win a challenge. Tigers especially celebrated each other during Friday’s Schmooze, where the unit saw four Silly Bananas and three Big Chairs! Cheers could be heard from the Tigers unit for their fellow campers, and showing amazing support for their fellow campers.

Staff Celebration Moment

This week, the Tigers would like to highlight Sponge! Sponge is a friendly face around camp, and you can hear him saying hello to every camper and staff he sees. He makes his campers feel welcome and ensures they have fun as soon as they enter camp until they leave. Sponge is dedicated to providing a safe and fun space for campers to learn and be silly, and we appreciate him greatly!

Caregiver Question of the Week

“If my camper is in Extended Care and I want to pick them up during regular pick up time, where can I find them?”

If your camper is registered for Extended Care, you can find them on the playground.

See you next week, Tigers!
